  1. Alternative Fokker Eindeckers FMs now available for d/l at CA download section, Add-On Aircraft. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4310 Thanks to Bortda for the great models, his permission to do the new FMs, and his encouragement. Fot those that d/l from previous thread, please redownload, new changes include redone damage model, small tweaks to performance, and to gun flashes(EIII)/shell ejection(both). Also included FM for EIIILate with 2 guns/reduced performance, using Bort's EIV Model, instructions to install are in the readme file. Firecage and others may include EIIILate in campaigns . The FMs are written for Hard Flight Model Mode, probably ok for normal. They are completely new (tho thankful to Borda for basic structure of course), and the EIII and EIV FMs are different. Tested extensively against EmID/Tex's Nieuport 11(and some others) - rationale for redoing Bort's FM was to get more consistency in game play with the newer models such as N11. In testing against Vet/Ace N11 AIs, EIII/EIV player can win, though its hard. In an N11, the player will usually win, but EIII/EIV AI will require some chasing usually, ie, they are reasonably good AI !!!. The EIII/IVs cannot win against Sopwith Pup. Seems about right to me. Hope you enjoy them, and Bort's wonderful models...........
  2. Hi B Bandy RFC, thanks for feedback. Yeah, just had a few flights, seems like you describe. Tried to make this interesting by adding some "features" in my last changes for the player, but it seems it makes it tougher for the AI to fly properly. Actually, more generally, when the AI cannot roll or turn well, its finds it difficult to do much except do descending circles - I spent most of my time on the FM just tweaking a perfectly good model to get the AI behaving like an opponent!! Have to rethink my strategy on this - I'll look into it more and update when I get the chance. Cheers
  3. "EmID/Tex's Nieuport 11.........." Ooops sorry , should read ....... Monty CZ/Tex's Nieuport 11. Be warned, thats what doing FMs does to you
  4. N24 & N24bis New Skin.

    Really nice skin, thanks

  7. Well, second time round.... Borda has given his ok to mod/make available his FMs for his great models, and Dagger has given the nod, so here's a new Fokker Eindecker IV Flight Model. For those that grabbed the first, please replace with this.... had a few days to reflect, and made some major changes to FM. I did this to add an early war German plane that could compete as opponents to the N11 & DH2s especially, as the original Eindeckers FMs were tough to fly in the original form, for me at least. I have redone the FM extensively, but of course very thankful to Borda for the base FM as a start. I have tested this against N11 and DH2 AIs , and in N11 against Eindecker AI, and the're good fights. I usually win, whichever play I fly, but its pretty close. However, thats me, I'd appreciate feedback, as am intending to do the Fokkers EIII and DIII as well, so want to get the balance right first. Some comments: Written and tested only for Hard FM - will be good as AI in normal, but climbs like a monkey in Normal mode, like most others. With a powerful engine its a good climber but not very nimble. Though accounts differ, its likely the Eindeckers were reasonable opponents, I have made it such if only from a game play perspective. Its an enjoyable plane to fly (probably unrealistic!!) but has quirks, and if stalled you will need to dive to get rid of the vibration that will continue for some time - didn't intend this intially, but seems fun, so left it... Seems a good AI opponent - AI climbs more realistically, doesn't slow down to a crawl Takes off is fine... it'll be a little jittery during/for a while after takeoff though. Climb is very good (probably was the best climber when it entered service mid 1916) Roll is okay, but eliminated ability to do a 360 degree roll (as it used wing warping, no ailerons, maybe realistic) Rudder perhaps a little better than it should be, done as such for a gameplay perspective (AI and player) Stalls around 32mph Top speed 105mph All feedback positive or negative, playability or FM, is welcome. Again, thanks toBorda for the great model, the original FM, and the permission to make the changes. FokkerEIV_DATA.txt
  8. Mine is this: AimAngles=4.5,-5.50,0.0 Big move. Couldn't hit anything before. Of course if you mod the AimAngle it will be off centre if you fly in No Cockpit Mode (with just sight). Cheers
  9. New FokkerEIV Flight Model

Well here's a new Fokker EIII FM. Written for Hard Flight Mode. FokkerEIII_DATA.txt Some comments: Different FM to EIV....redone basics plus quite a bit.... Nice floaty feeling, at times (on roll, due to sideslip, just letting you know I added it ) Climb/performance done to fit in with current N11 done by Tex etc AI is both well behaved and a good opponent N11 Player will usually win even against Ace/Vet, tho could take a little time. E3 Player will usually lose to N11 Vet/Ace AI, but you can win (better yet, wait for some Fe2Bs/Moranes ) Hope you like it, let me know if you have any comments. BTW, if like me you appreciate the EIV pit, I have done a EIII late w/2 guns (increased weight, slightly slower climb) using EIII FM with EIV model. For those that want this data ini plus the other files needed once the original EIV folder is copied/renamed, I will be putting it with the other two Eindeckers data files in the download section in a week or so. As Bortda says "pick and mix to taste"...............
  10. New FokkerEIV Flight Model

Hi Tex, welcome back. Thanks for post. The plane is the Fokker EIV, not the EIII, I did this first because the pit is nicer in the EIV The EIII is progressing... I trialled the N11,Fokker EIV and current EIII (not finished tho) from takeoff to 1500ft: N11 2 min 07 secs EIV 1 min 51 secs EIII 2 min 21 secs As you can see I am using your N11 as the basis, feel you have set a reasonable standard for me to follow. Now, my testing probably isn't spot on, but its consistent. According to entries in Wikpedia, EIV climbs to 200om in 8 mins, and as you say, N11 climbs to 3000m in 15 mins. I agree about the EIII (cannot find climb rates either), my guesses seem to correlate to your calculations. I guess the problem I have with the EIV is it wasn't a success -its probably more to do with its timing (it was a design that had its day), and it was very hard to fly due to large engine - but if I put in the real climb rate it becomes competitive in FE, unless I make it a real handful to fly, but then again that doesn't effect the AI much. BTW the E3 weighs 399kg empty at the Aerodrome website - seems more correct eg, Wikpedia says EIV/EIII 466/500kg respectively whilst Aerodraome says 460/399kg. Given larger engine of EIV, I bellieve the latter figures. But as I said, I agree that E3 should not outclimb N11. Any comments welcome. Cheers
  11. New FokkerEIV Flight Model

Tex, Tailspin, Tex, I did do a new Inertia. As you say, it is fundamental to the FM. This Fokker EIV FM is actually completely new, nearly done from scratch - it took a day just to make it fly!!. Its not a tweak as such, minor or major. I did change some damage modelling, I'll look at your tips as well. Climb is about same/bit better than N11. Tailspin, you are right, the Fokker IV wasn't successful, just want to make it playable and fun as well. So tho turn and roll aren't great in this FM, climb is (historically correct). I might lower these slightly, but do want it competitive for both the player and as AI as well. If I can introduce some quirks that effect the player whilst not effecting either takeoff and AI so much, I might get something fun, realistic and competitive. Well, I can dream ........... Thanks again for feedback. Still after more, tho thankyou to those that PM'd me. Especially on how it competes against N11 Dh2 - take it for a spin, or end the "current" Fokker EIV scourge yourself ..... For those that aren't sure what to do with FokkerEIV_DATA file I have posted (its a text file, not allowed to post ini files in forums, so just putting in the right folder won't work), do the following: Make copy of your current FokkerEIV_DATA.ini file in the Object\Aircraft\FokkerEIV folder then open the one I have provided with Notepad, select "save as" in File Menu, then select "All types of files" in "Save as type" at bottom of Dialogue Box (not just text), and save over existing FokkerEIV_DATA.ini file in the Object\Aircraft\FokkerEIV folder folder. If you want to go back to original, delete the new one and rename the copy (usually "Copy of FokkerEIV_DATA.ini ) you made to FokkerEIV_DATA.ini. I hope this may help some.... Cheers
  12. Nieuport 24

Hi EmId, If you add extra guns in Il2, you get reduced performance. Will this happen in FE? I like the idea of gunpods but if performance isn't effected, then having different planes seems okay- not 9 though, too many, more like a couple of variations of each - the most common variations. Cheers
  13. Observations.

Hi catch, forgot to add that the coords work like left = negative/right = positive and so on And just checked my data.ini for the pup, and I modded aim to AimAngles=0.25,-1.5,0.0 Also, with D8 I think its pretty hard to get any plane working well in both hard and normal FM, as Laton did with this (IMO Laton did an excellent job with FM) ......even TKs have issues, eg, AlbDVa and to me Se5a. So I'd look at it as a feature I am very surprised about DH2 working like that in Normal, tho of course believe you. I only fly hard, and it is interesting - I like it though. Usually planes are quite well behaved in normal, so no idea - maybe because FM was pre-patch, and never upgraded. With DH2 AI, I changed parameters in the [FlightControl] at top of ini. If they do fast tight circles lower the corner speed, if the go lower all the time increase climb speed, if stall, increase stall speed. You can get them to change their behavior quite considerably, but......it can cause issues with takeoff/landing etc...its trial and error but worth it, for me at least. I am OFF now, few minutes to finish dl.
  14. Observations.

Hi Catch, with first two points what mode are you flying in? The aircraft behave differently in different modes, as does the AI which to me seems partly Normal Mode plus something (maybe AI parameters). Actually you can change AI behavior significantly by changing the data ini. With aim angles, the coords are (left/right, up/down, forward/back) I think, so if (0.00, 0.00, 0.00) doesn't work well move left right etc its trial and error, but you can usually get something you can live with (tho depends on how model is designed as well). cheers
  15. Its a very very nice plane......thanks Ateam.
  16. New FokkerEIV Flight Model

Thanks Tailspin and Tex for replies, considering the points you raised.....maybe get back to you a little latter. HerGr, yes am thinking of doing these, certainly EIII. Everyone, can I get some feedback about how this plane performs against the allied planes? Is it too good, too hard? Tex has I think set the standard with the N11 and others, and I am trying to get some consistency where there is very little really yet. Its the main reason I''m doing this, Bortda's original FM was fine in itself. Just to let you know what I am considering, I am trialling some quirks for the plane so its more difficult/interesting to fly, and looking at making the EIII more maneovarable, slower climb, slower speed, easier to fly. Idea is to have two quite different aircraft - which is I think how it was. Also just like to apologise to Bortda ( Bortdafarm), its not Borda . Actually its a great ID, don't know why I got it wrong. Just not all there...dreaming of FMs....
  17. Nieuport 24

Hi EmID, I guess if your asking I 'd agree with more variants of the N24s, there so cool anway, won't go astray. The gunpod idea is good, but ...?? My vote would be to do two more seperate variants: one lewis on wing only for N24 say (no vickers), and an extra wing mounted lewis/vickers?? for N24bis. This would cover most bases! If I had to pick I'd go for second. Cheers
  18. New N28 Skins.

Really fantastic....make the plane look even more superb. And Rickenbackers is a treat....very imaginative. I was flying this against the FokkerD8, and you know the saying, brother against brother, well this was skin against skin......the skies are filled with friends from the sky cheers M8
  19. Nice work Laton, always liked your model, but this has taken it to a new level....my fav at the moment cheers, hope to see more
  20. Hi Dagger, Apologies for the kerfuffle - I do agree its best to get Borda's permission directly. But in my defence, Borda has clearly expressed the view that people can mod his FMs without permission, as Firecage pointed out. No matter, I will try harder to contact him. Cheers
  21. WIP - Hannover CL.IIIa

oops not early war, but still 2 seater fighter, sounds good. Also possible early war version with some mods?
  22. Adding Gunsights

Hi Bikikie, You can't change the gunsight, but you seem to want to do this to fix two other issues you have, I think?? Try these to fix the original problems: To centre gunsights for MikeWh F1 camel try changing the CamelF1_DATA.ini in CamelF1 folder as follows: AimAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 ---> to -1.3,-0.7,0.0 To fix your crashing problem for the ATeams Camel, open FlightEngine.ini after extracting from FlightData.CAT, then change default GraphicsSettings section to the following: [GraphicsSettings] ZBufferDepth=24 MaxVertexCount=16384 MaxIndexCount=32768 MaxTextureCount=16384 MaxModelType=2048 MaxMeshPerScene=2048 MaxModelPerScene=4096 MaxLightPerScene=1024 AspectRatio=1.333333 MinPixelSize=1.0 Cheers
  23. WIP - Hannover CL.IIIa

Oh yes, we need some of these ealier german birds for the Nieups 11/17 you have done. Fantastic.
  24. Nieuport 11

Yeah, Monty (and Tex), superb . Hard to beat this one.....model and fm. Can imagine how much work it took, and the skins are a treat. Thanks. PS Whats the next project?
  25. Nieuport 24

She stalls around 30-35mph in Hard FM mode, same as all other FMs . It has been written for that mode..................
