Regarding plane maneuverability
ThunderCloud posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hi all! I was playing with some .ini edits and getting used to modding SF2NA. But something a bit crazy came to my mind, I wanted to do it just for fun but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. How do I change plane maneuverability? For instance, I have PLANE-X_DATA and PLANE-Y_DATA. What do I have to do make PLANE-X have the same maneuverability as PLANE-Y? I tried messing with the FlightControl lines but I didn't get any noticeable results, it was pretty much the same. I remember figuring this out a long while ago but it was pure luck, just blindly editing stuff. How do I change it, exactly? If someone would help me out, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance. -

Little question about adding an engine sound.

Hello all, I was just messing with some sound files and it came to me the idea of recording an engine sound to put in the game. I recorded an engine sound, 9 seconds long, saved as .wav, added to the sounds folder and opened the data.ini to replace the original engine sound for one plane with the file I had recorded. The thing is, there was no sound at all when I tested it. Can someone explain what went wrong? (or if it's even possible to just shove a wav sound in the folder, replace and expect it to work  ) -

Paint scheme just won't let me select an insignia.

You are right, decal level entries were wrong, I switched them to 1 to no effect but then... Terrains are OK. The problem was that I had to switch DecalLevel to 0 (wanted to put nation insignias). After messing with every line in the decals.ini, I had no idea it was something that simple. But then again, I'm just starting out. Guess that's one more thing I learned today. Big thanks, guys! -

Bit of a noob question, I've just started with this whole .ini editing thing. Can someone explain why a certain paint scheme just won't let me choose my insignia to put on the plane? I tried editing the .ini decal files for that particular scheme so I could use any insignia on it. However in the selection screen it won't let me choose, it's locked at the USN ones. But, because I edited the .inis to show any insignia, the game randomizes them once the mission starts. It started showing the same squadron with different markings for each plane, one with the Luftwaffe, the other with JASDF, and so on. So, the question is: how come I can't select the markings even though the game does it by random? What can I do to make them selectable? -

How did I get this smoke?

Set the "ExhaustEmitterName=" to CleanExhaustEmitter. That's the stock one, I guess. Like this: ExhaustEmitterName=CleanExhaustEmitter -
Can I create custom names for Aircraft in the editor?

Thankfully I didn't lose all my mods. I just had to uninstall the bugger and put in another anti-virus program. It's working like a charm now. Thanks for the advices. -
I just wanted to know if it's possible to customize the name of an specific plane through the editor (or by other means). Not the full aircraft name in the ini file, because that will have the name showing up on every aircraft of that type. Something like putting "MiG-21bis Sunset 1" for one plane, "MiG-21bis Sunset 2" for another plane, like building a custom squadron/pilot. Is that even possible? Thanks in advance.

After trying reinstalls and backups, I've finally found out that my anti virus was recognizing the missioneditor.dll as a virus. Damn it. -

I've always used the patched editor since I installed the game. Just now I had the problem. -

I'm using SF2 NA patched to July 2013. I always used the mission editor that comes with the game and never had a problem with it, but today when I tried to build a mission like I always do, I got this: Well, I don't know what the hell happened, there are no mods conflicting with the game. Can someone explain? It's a bit annoying because it also won't let me load the default missions form the game to play. The loading screen freezes at 40%. -
