It is my sincere hope that I do not end up embarrassing myself with this. A few weeks ago I joined the "League of World War I Aviation Historians" at Over the Front because they send out a quarterly Magazine which looks nifty. I received my emailed payment receipt, and then jumped right in with an email to their "ask the experts" Email address in which I inquired about colours/markings for George McElroy, and American tail markings (which Lima33 has already answered;). As of this post I have not received an answer, but wouldn't hold that against them. It was when I returned to the site and happened upon a note stating that if I had not received verification in the mail that I should email with a particular subject line [. . .] which I have also not received a reply to. Now after sending a reply to the sender of the payment receipt and not hearing back I am beginning to feel a little angry. Has anyone here been to the site and/or joined?

Bob, Hansa is right. If you do some more studying you will find the scales tilting towards FE. Just look at Lima33's screenshots! - it's not easy and you need to be a bit of a nerd (not meaning to insult the chaps here:). I wish I had more time to make the needed modifications and would LOVE a do-all upgrade like Redwolf mentions! But stick it out and back your stuff up and, from what I have been gathering you will see enhanced gameplay and realistic simulation.. some day my FE will get there, but until then I will just pour some bourbon on the rocks and see if I can survive another battle. Cheers

Thank you Panama Red, You are right - it was indeed a radial engine. This forum and game has been a tremendous educational opportunity. For me it started with researching a plane for a model build (Nieuport Bebe), and that led to looking at games, and now I am learning about WWI. This is awesome - thanks again for clearing that up. -

I simply had to post here because of how long it's been since anyone has. '07! While here I would like to share a few things that don't seem to have a category; Last night while walking the dogs with the wife along the Erie Canal in western NY, A nearby farmers field was being dusted. the purring of a rotary engine biplane going back and forth... I beamed with every pass that was in view. Wish I was close enough to identify, but a good guess would be a Stearman - except it didn't have a dead flat wing. 2 years ago I saw the same blue and yellow plane dusting my neighbor's field. Nearly passing directly overhead at first! I was so excited I climbed to the roof so I could watch as long as I could, and in both cases was unable to have a camera. dang. A few nights ago I finally had a successful campaign mission! LOL and I'm not even working the hard settings yet ...ugh. -

I am new to this but can maybe help a little. Going down with damage can count as a success if targets are hit, as long as the pilot isn't hit.. so far I have not been, but I am also not on "hard" settings for most things. Read the stuff around here as much as you can for how to make mods. Most of it is here somewhere. I learned a lot just from the Readme/instructions that come with planes and skins. You will need to find some kind of software to make edits to the skins. I was lucky enough to have an old version of Photoshop kicking around. Can't do it inside the game. As far as campaigns go - I must not be very good at it because it seems I have to repeat them.. like it's not saving or something, but again - I'm still in training. ;) ROF I gave up on out of frustration for my limited bandwidth and older system ran a bit "choppy"

American born of Irish descent (well 90% or so) From what little research I did years ago, County Clare's O'Duibghinn Family (spelling?) Anglo spelling "Patrick Deegan" the family call me Paddy. I took Padraig as my handle because Patrick was taken, but I was surprised Padraig wasn't! My mate at work; Alan is from the port town of Donaghedy. He showed me a picture on his desktop. Looks like a postcard - I don't know why anyone would leave Ireland from what I've seen. Beautiful scenery, good beer and pretty girls. He asks me if you're Green or Orange? LOL ..not that I care a flip. ps. 33LIMA - Nice screenies, and sorry about forgetting the quotes - I'll catch on here soon enough. I will catch on eventually - haven't really done a lot of blogging.

Thanks for the input brothers. Have downloaded FE2 already. Hopefully dual core is enough. Memory being added soon and just got a fanless 1gb graphics card. 33LIMA> I work with an Ulster Lad who transplanted to western NY 5 years ago or so. Took me a bloody year to understand him ;)

I am glad to see this SIm still gets action and support. Having a rather humble PC made me choose it. RoF was in the radar a year ago or so but I couln'd even get it to load for being locked out because I wasn't going to use my bandwidth to download the upgrade and my PC had only the very bottom of what was recommended. Anyway being so new to this I need to ask if anyone is using FE1 for multiplayer? I do not see anyone out there when I look. After applying patches, textures and planes it is pretty awesome. I wonder however if it's really so much different in FE2 to go ahead and buy it. It is a very affordable game so price isn't what's stopping me.
