  1. 2012 eh. Well that settles it then, I'm off to town to see if I can get Battlefield 3!! Tony
  2. Paper Models

Here is a link to another paper modelling site that has all kinds of models. Planes, tanks, buildings, and what have you. It has been around for quite some time. http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/ Tony
  3. OT We might have been killed

That reminds me of the time I was driving on a two lane road and as we were cresting a hill this clown tried to pass me. You guessed it, there was a car coming the othe way. I pulled as far to right as far as I could and the car coming the other way was forced off the road. This is where it gets interesting. The car that was forced off the road made a u-turn. I thought OH OH he is pissed and here comes a case of road rage. Then he activated his lights and siren and stopped the guy a little further on. Justice from an unmarked patrol car. I often wondered what happened. Tony
  4. OT Job starts on Monday

No, he is on the west coast at Comox airport
  5. OT Job starts on Monday

Good luck with the new job WM. My son retired after 20 years in the Canadian Navy and took a part time job as a security officer at the local airport. That was 4 yrs ago. He now runs a complete shift and is the training officer to boot. You never know how things will turn out. Tony
  6. Albatross experts needed.

The chain was probably attached to a bottle opener
  7. Joystick

I've had my CH Products HOTAS (Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals) for about 8 years now and they are just as solid as the day I bought them. They are pricy but they last forever. The free Control Manager Software really enhances the CH Prducts hardware. Tony
  8. I only have this to say. VC's were not handed out from the King without some thorough research into the action that they were awarded for. I wasn't present at the time and I don't think that many of us were. Was he a SOB? From all accounts he was, and he was not that well liked by many of the men in his squadron. Some of it was from his arrogance and some was just plain envy. Unless we were present we cannot tell what the interraction was in the squadron. Any of us who were in the military should remember the one guy in the troup who was not popular. After all these years I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. After all he was also awarded The Distinguished Service Order & Bar, The Military Cross, and The Distinguished Flying Cross among others. He must have done something to earn these other awards. I met Billy Bishop III on numerous occasions, but at that time I was not too interested in WW1 history so our conversations never got around to his grandfather. I remember him as a hard nosed hockey player on the ice and a great guy to have a drink with after the game. As a matter of fact I used to go to Owen Sound on business about 3 times a week and much to my regret I never once visited Billy Bishop Museum. I was not even aware of it at that time. I hope to rectify that this summer. Tony
  9. OT/ Had a strange Baseball feat

His given names were Daniel Joseph. He was called "Rusty" because of his hair colour. Tony
  10. OT/ Had a strange Baseball feat

Great feat Creaghorn 5 RBI's with 0 AB. I played my last Senior "A" game when I was around 50. I was also a catcher, but played SS and 3B as well. That was underhand fastball and then as the old saying goes my eyesight went bad so I became an umpire. I was still umpiring at all levels (college, university) until last year when I had to have a knee replacement, due to the ravages of hockey, soccer, and baseball. I am going to give it a try this year if the rain ever stops. Oh yeah I'll be 69 this year so I don't have many seasons left at this level. My biggest thrills on the diamond were catching a no hitter in high school, and umpiring a perfect game in the provincial (Ontario) finals three yaers ago. 21 batters, 21 outs, and no got on base. Tony
  11. OT-If you had a time machine

I'm afraid that I am even a bit more materialistic than Ohlam. I would go only 3 weeks into the future, scan the last couple of winning lottery numbers, come back and play them. Tony
  12. Do use a dedicated simpit or do you fly from the desk? I have a homebuilt contraption based on a commercial product that was called the "HOTASS Positioner years ago. Here is a pic: Click on thumbnail to see larger picture. Plans are available on request. Tony
  13. We have been using IOBIT's Advanced System Care for a couple of years now in our shop, and it works as advertised. We also use IOBIT's Smart Defrag 2. As a matter of fact we put it on every computer that leaves our shop, whether it is a repair or a new system. Tony
  14. Looks like Obama got Osama. It's about time, nearly 10 years after the World Trade Center tragedy. It's too bad they didn't take him alive. They may have got some useful information out of him. Tony
  15. PC Dying? Need Help

At work we have a computer power supply tester that we just plug the PSU into and then turn it on. If any of the voltages are not right there is an audible warning. If someone brings a PSU in that is suspect we will check it out for them, no charge. Takes about a minute. Maybe you could remove your PSU and take it to a Mom & Pop computer store and get it checked out. Tony
  16. The device on the left side is a CH Products Pro Throttle. I have a writeup and dimensions for the setup. If anyone wants them, PM me. Especially if the significant other is around :fu2: LOL
  17. Happy Easter to all

Ohlam: The Trillium is the official provincial flower of Ontario. Contrary to popular belief it is not illegal to pick them. They grow wild by the hundreds in the woodlands Tony
  18. Happy Easter to all

In our town we celebrate the Easter weekend with a procession on Good Friday. A link: http://www.amherstburgecho.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3091275 Filomeno (Jesus) is actually a good friend of mine. This is another link in the same paper that may be of interest to some: http://www.amherstburgecho.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3092682 I'll be picking up a copy next week Tony
  19. Mike: Just a thought, when you change your sliders in workshops you do go to File, Exit. I read somewhere that if you exit via the red "X" your configuration will not be saved Tony
  20. Olham's Porn

Hey Parky: Nice to know I have exactly the same equipment as you. I have the same Frigidare Stove LOL. My Hotas is CH Products though. Tony
  21. Lou: That is an impressive library. I have probably only had about a quarter of them, but once I have read them I tend to give them away. Mostly to people on this forum, but on other forums as well as well. Oddly enough I never read "Sagittarius Rising". I ordered it this morning and it will be here in a week or so. I'll read it then probably pass it on. Tony
  22. Commodore 64 reborn! (Really?)

I started with a Commmodore VIC-20 then a Commodore 64, then an Amiga 1000. I also can remember typing in those programs from Compute Gazette, where a minor error would botch the whole thing. Then I switched to an IBM 386-25 with a massive 110 MB HD. Never thought I would fill it up. LOL I have been upgrading ever since. Tony
  23. Here is the ultimate cooling solution: http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php Tony
  24. Ground battles!

Shredward, You brought back a flood of memories when you mentioned Camp Borden. I spent a few years there in the early to mid sixties. Of course I was on the Air Force side but I still wouldn't trade that time for anything else. Tony
  25. The IL2 CoD manual is available on line. Here is a link to SIMHQ thread that has a link to D/L the manual. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3245818/If_you_are_not_having_a_fit_I_.html#Post3245818 Tony
