I usually fly OFF 2 or 3 times a week. 1 QC, then change pilot and fly a campaign mission. I would like to fly more but RL issues have a way of intruding. I also have a couple of other sims that I use. Tony

Yes he does. Here is a link to his website: http://www.bobseger.com/index/home/ I became a fan of his in the 70's when I edited a TV show featuring him and Teagarden and Van Winkle. Tony -

Well I thought long and hard about it and this is my choice: Tony -
Was just watching the pictures of the tsunami from Japan on CNN. They were saying that at 8.9 this is the seventh largest earthquake ever. This has been quite the year for disasters around the globe. I hope that the people living in the coastal areas had enough warning to evacuate to higher ground. There are tsunami warnings for as far away as Hawaii, and Australia. It seems that Mother Nature is on a rampage this year. Tony

Welcome back Olham you were missed by all. I had my knee replaced last March and it isn't right yet. I still have to go to Physiotherapy twice a week. It has not been a good year as far as that is concerned. I wish your mother the best of luck in her recuperation. Tony

Well it finally happened, OFF became corrupted. So me being who I am, I decided on a complete reinstall and I removed CFS3 via Control Manager,Programs and Features. I then deleted the 2 OFF folders. So far so good. Now it was time to reinstall. I followed the procedure on the Over Flanders Fields website. RATS!! I could get to the field but then it would not proceed. I then read the proper way to uninstall CFS3 so I tried that, then another reinstall. Double rats, still would not run. I then read somewhere that due to an improper uninstall there were some registry issues. So in an act of desparation I tried 2 programs that we use at work to repair registry problems. They are: "Eusing Free Registry Cleaner" available here, http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm and "IObit Advanced System Care Free3" available here. http://www.iobit.com/download.html I installed both and ran them, then did the reinstall again, and to my amazement OFF ran like a charm. Of course had I read Uncle Al's tricks and tips a bit more carefully I could have save myself a lot of anguish not mention time. Anyway the two programs seemed to work for me, your mileage may vary. Normally I would heartily agree with you Widowmaker, but in this case we use both of these on a daily basis at the shop I work in, and have never had an adverse reaction. Mind you they don't always fix the problems that we encounter but they have never harmed anything in the 2+ years that we have been using them. ASC actually has a restore function, but we've never had to use it that I can remember. Tony

Talking of headsets, you ought to try these. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/internet-headsets-phones/devices/5095 7.1 surround sound and you just plug them in and away you go. The best that I have used so far. Tony

Congratulations to you and Roxie, Mike. Life as you know it will be changed forever. Tony

I have a pair of what were purported to be WW1 German goggles. I don't know if they are or not, but judging by the state of the elastic they look to be quite old. They fold up and are in a box. They actually look like some of those worn in the movie "Flyboys" Tony

I have just returned from a Rememberance Day service at our local Cenotaph, where I had the priviledge of laying a wreath for our organization. It is sad that as each year passes there are fewer and fewer veterans able to attend. Having said that, the turnout of the local townspeople was phenomenal. This was a poem that was read at the end of the service. Lest We Forget It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, Who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote. It is the VETERAN , Who salutes the Flag. It is the veteran , Who serves under the Flag. Tony

This is actually my wife's computer, but we both use it for browsing and e-mail purposes.

Here is something else you might try. Go to: http://www.iobit.com/download.html#freesoftware download and install "Advanced SystemCare Free" Then run it. We have had some success with it in our shop. AS Parky has already said it seems to be CFS3 specific, and I would try and purge the system of anything CFS3 related

There is a free program called Memtest86. D/L it here http://www.memtest86.com/download.html Burn it onto a CD and it will test your memory an at least take that out of the equation. Tony

Olham: As von Paulus suggested get memtest86 and remove your memory sticks and test them one at a time.We do this all the time in our shop. Also every time we add memory to a system we run memtest86. We have been burned a couple of times by installing memory that was bad from the get go. Memtest86 is a great program and did I mention that it is free. You can d/l it here: http://www.memtest86.com/download.html Tony

I can't believe it, you guys have outdone yourselves again. Is this still using CFS3, I thought I heard somewhere that you were using a new engine? Maybe I misread the information! Tony

Imagine you could hunt or escort one of these!

It looks as if the poor bugger has snagged a barrage balloon cable with his starbord wing. Tony -
Microsoft Security Essentials is now a free download. We have been evaluating it in our shop for the last couple of weeks and found it to be quite good. It even outperforms some of the commercial payware virus programs. Did I mention that it is free. We are installing it on all new computers that we sell, as well as any that come in for service who's virus programs are coming due. I think that MS is finally realizing that Windows has a great many holes in it, and rather than plug them one at a time with security updates galore they may try this approach. Anyway the price is right. It can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/?mkt=en-us Tony

OvS: In my experience there 2 things that cause random lockups. One is an overheating problem and the other is a bad memory stick. At our shop we use "Memtest86" to test the memory. It is a free download. Also check to make sure all the fans in your case are running. We had one last week that had the same symptons as you and when you touched the chipset on the mobo it was really hot, to the point of burning your finger. A rare example but a new mobo had to be installed. Lots of good advice here. Good luck Tony -

OT: Greetings From The North Dakota Badlands
Typhoon replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lou: My wife and I share many fond memories of the ND Badlands. She fell in love with Medora. We would stop there every time we drove to the west coast. We did travel through SD once and the scenery was not quite the same. We did stop at Wall Drugs though. Hope to do trip again after my wife retires in a couple of weeks. There's always something new to see every time we go that way. Tony -
Jackstaw: As a fellow Canuck welcome. I'll have a Crown Royal and Blue chaser thanks. Tony

Sorry Uncle Al, but since 1994 lacrosse has been the official summer sport of Canada. "In 1994, however, a zealous hockey fan and Member of Parliament, Nelson Riis, introduced a private member's bill that declared hockey the national sport of Canada. After much debate, the bill was amended to make HOCKEY the official winter sport and LACROSSE the official summer sport. The National Sports Act of Canada received royal assent in May of that year. UK: I think you'll find that basketball was in fact invented by a Canadian. James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891. He was working at Springfield college in Massachusetts at the time. Tony
