  1. What is a "Weapons Pack" and how do you use it? I have conducted a search in the forums but, can not locate a "Weapons pack" to download. Also, where do I find this "Weapons Editor" I keep reading so much about. Do I require the "Weapons editor" in order to use a "Weapons Pack"? And are these additional weapons that are not shipped with the original game? I'm not clear on the purpose. I've been searching for this info for a few days on the forums with no luck. Can someone please point me in the right direction or offer a short explanation? Thank you.
  2. Do I have to find and edit some ini file to get this to work????
  3. I just downloaded the game from Third Wire a few minutes ago. I tried playing without first applying the patch and the game would crash to my desktop. So, I decided I would download and apply the patch, assuming this would correct the problem, yet the game still crashes. The error I am receiving states: The application failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found. Please reinstall the application. I have already reinstalled the application twice and I continue to receive this error. I'm trying to run the game on a brand new fresh install of Windows XP on a Core 2 duo machine and the O.S. is completely up to date. Does anyone have any advice or fixes available for my problem? Thanks!
  4. Hi, I've returned to the flight-sim arena after many years away and have started playing Lock-On Modern Air Combat: Flaming Cliffs. I watched an incredible video on YouTube showing an absolutely beautiful F-16 Fighting Falcon being flown in Lock-On but, I can't find one in the game. I keep reading post about something called "LOMAN"? What is this? Is it an add-on piece of software that will allow me to fly the F-16 in Lock-On or simply a utility to apply different paint schemes to the existing jets in the game? If so, where can I find this? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. how to open a .rar file?

Hi guys, I'm new to installing add-on aircraft for the Third Wire series of flight sims. I downloaded an aircraft but it is in a format I have never seen before. It has a ".rar" file extension. Windows XP does not recognize this file extension and asks to find a program on the internet to open it. I conducted a quick search on the internet for a program that would recognize this kind of file but, everything I found was commercial software that required a purchase. Is there honestly no piece of free software out there that can open this file so I can install it?
  6. how to open a .rar file?

Thanks! I really appreciate your response to my question.
  7. Can't get game to work!

Thanks for the advice guys! That did the trick! Being that this is my first WWI flight sim, is there any must-have add-ons I should install now?
  8. The best sim in town...

I've always wondered about the military plane expansion packs for Microsoft Flight Simulator series. Is there no combat at all? Do you just fly around in an F-16 or F-15 for example? There are no campaigns or single player missions? My favorite of the MS series was Combat Flight Simulator 2. The third version sucked.
  9. Whirlwind over Vietnam..

Hey Doug, I am having the exact same problem that you are describing. I can't even get the game to load. I tried restarting the PC, defraging the hard drive, uninstalling the game and reinstalling the game, updating my graphics drivers and finally making sure my Windows operating system was up to date wtih the latest patches. I tried to find an update for this game from the publisher's web site but, none appear to be available as of yet. I was so excited to fly the Huey in Veitnam combat I failed to read the reviews here first. It looks like I got had big time by purchasing this game. This really sucks! I can't even get the game to work in order to give it an honest review. Can anyone help us? I have the Recommended System Requirements inside my PC to play the game. All except I have a 128MB video card and not a 512MB card. But, it does still meet all other requirments on the box. Kelly
