This is no flight sim. That is certain. I just played the demo on the PC and I was very disappointed. The graphics for the ground are superb but, the planes are very bad and I won't describe how bad the physics are. I had high hopes for this game. I saw the PC game this afternoon in my local Best Buy store and came close to picking it up for $50. Whew! I'm sure glad I didn't spend my hard earn dollars for this one! I would really like to see a TRUE flight sim with these kind of ground graphics and detail though. Now that would be sweet.

Is there a specic TUTORIAL for adding Aircraft Carrier to W.O.E.?

Is there a specific TUTORIAL available for adding Aircraft Carriers to W.O.E.? I have tried to follow the directions in the knowledge base for adding an Aircraft Carrier to Strike Fighters but, it is asking for files that do not exist in W.O.E. I have tried twice to add carriers to W.O.E. unsuccessfully. It is an extremely difficult procedure. Is there an easier way? I really want to fly F/A-18s off a carrier deck! Should I start from scratch with a fresh re-installation of W.O.E.? -

Thanks! But, I realized I had downloaded the Desert Storm Mod a while back and I can launch F/A-18 jets off of carrier decks in that mod. No need to excavate any code!!! =) Sweet! -

I found this: There is a whole new format for groundobjects. Your mods are not gone you just have to "reformat" them to the new way. No more is a groundobjectdata.ini needed, now you can install just like aircraft. Open up the main.ini of whatever groundobject you want added. Add these lines at the top....(xxxxx being the name of the object) [GroundObjectData] ObjectFullName=xxxxxx ObjectDataFile=xxxxxx_data.ini So for example [GroundObjectData] ObjectFullName=FROG-3 ObjectDataFile=FROG-3_data.ini Once you have converted all of your objects delete all and any groudnobjectdata.inis and any data.ini you have hanging outin the main groundobject folder as they are no longer needed. But, the only data that I can find in the ground object configuration settings file is this: [GroundObjectData] GroundObjectTypeList=GroundObjectData.ini DataDirectory=GroundObject [GameObjectData] MinSystemHitChance=25 VolumeStructurePoint=10 Elasticity=0.3 [GameObjectEffect] ObjectFireEffect= ObjectFireSound= ObjectExplosionEffect=GroundExplosionEffect ObjectExplosionSound=SmallExplosion ComponentDetachEffect= ComponentDetachSound= ComponentShrapnelCount=10 DamageShrapnelFactor=0.0 MaxDamageShrapnelCount=0 [WeaponAI] LeadAmount[01]=0.00 LeadAmount[02]=1.50 LeadAmount[03]=0.50 LeadAmount[04]=1.25 LeadAmount[05]=0.75 LeadAmount[06]=1.13 LeadAmount[07]=0.87 LeadAmount[08]=1.07 LeadAmount[09]=0.93 LeadAmount[10]=1.00 AimOffset[01]=0.0050 AimOffset[02]=0.0040 AimOffset[03]=0.0035 AimOffset[04]=0.0030 AimOffset[05]=0.0025 AimOffset[06]=0.0020 AimOffset[07]=0.0015 AimOffset[08]=0.0010 AimOffset[09]=0.0005 AimOffset[10]=0.0000 [GroundMobile] DetailMovementDist=500 GroundRoughness=0.002 [NavalObject] DetailMovementDist=1000 WaterRoughness=0.001 [ObjectFire] FireCheckTime=4.0 APRoundFireChance=30 HERoundFireChance=70 HERoundExplosionChance=30 ExplosionChance=10 SuppressionChance=10 ProgressionChance=10 [ComponentDebris] Velocity=10.0 VelocityDeviation=0.3 AngleRateFactor=0.2 DragFactor=0.10 LifeTime=8.0 SmokeEffect=GroundComponentSmokeEffect FireEffect=GroundComponentSmokeEffect [systemDebris] Velocity=10.0 VelocityDeviation=0.3 AngleRateFactor=0.4 DragFactor=0.06 LifeTime=5.0 ShrapnelChance=0 ShrapnelCount=0 SmokeEffect=DebrisSmokeEffect FireEffect=DebrisFireEffect [shrapnelDebris] Velocity=10.0 VelocityDeviation=0.4 AngleRateFactor=1.0 DragFactor=0.05 LifeTime=3.0 ShrapnelChance=0 ShrapnelCount=0 SmokeEffect= FireEffect= [Light] MaxVertexCount=1024 MaxIndexCount=1536 LightMaterial=LightMaterial LightDistFactor=0.02 MaxLightSrcDist=500 [LightMaterial] DepthBufferCheck=TRUE DepthBufferWrite=FALSE RenderedInOrder=FALSE AlphaTestEnabled=TRUE CullMode=NO_CULL LightEnabled=FALSE UseLightLevel=FALSE SpecularEnabled=FALSE EmissiveEnabled=FALSE FogEnabled=FALSE AmbientColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 DiffuseColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 ZBufferOffset=0.000000 PriorityLevel=3 BlendOp=BLEND_SRC_ALPHA_ADD_DST NumTextureStages=1 TextureStage[01].TextureName=light.tga TextureStage[01].MipMap=TRUE TextureStage[01].FilterEnabled=TRUE TextureStage[01].StageColorOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE TextureStage[01].StageAlphaOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE I can not find a number to change. -

Thanks Fubar. I would appreciate your help. I am finding that trying to add an aircraft carrier to W.O.E. is extremely difficult. I think many of the instructions for installing add on items for W.O.E., W.O.V., etc. take too much for granted. I was finally able to successfully add a couple aircraft (Tornado & F/A-18E) with weapons and fuel tanks to W.O.E. but, that was no simple task either. I've always wondered why there can not be a simple single click install item for many of these add on items. That would be so cool. And make life so much easier. ;) -

Ah ha! Good point. The Super Hornet is one of my favorite aircraft of all time and the Super Hornet I have installed in WOE does not have any external fuel tanks or missles on board. It sucks. I'll try to figure out how to add the weapons and fuel tanks on an individual aircraft basis later in the week. I think having the "Weapons Pack" available makes this tedious process so much easier! Thanks FastCargo! -

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! What appeared to be my problem was I had an out of date weapons pack I guess. I also had two weapons folders in my WOE Objects folder. One called "Weapon" and the other called "Weapons". They both had a set of weapons in them. I deleted the "Weapon" folder and installed the new weapons pack from the Mirage Factory. After following your excellent directions step by step, the fuel tanks now appear along with guns on my Tornado. Also something interesting... A Weapons Editor and Gun Editor NOW appear inside the Objects folder now. I used THAT Weapons editor instead of the one I had tried to use earlier and it worked. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR A CLEAR STEP BY STEP GUIDE. THIS SHOULD REALLY BE PLACED IN A TUTORIAL SECTION. Not a Knowledge base. They are usually much too broad, in my opinion. One more question.... With a weapons pack from the Mirage factory, is the "SFP1e_Extract_Utility" still necessary? I still really do not get that part of the procedural dance. ;) -

After an exhaustive search in a sea of other files I found the weapondata.ini file. I followed all the directions to the letter, yet still no fuel tanks or guns. Guns are a grayed out selection and fuel tanks are not available at all in the load out screen. -

1. I have downloaded and installed the SPF1E_Extract_Utility. 2. I have opened the program and navigated to: C:\Progam Files\ThirdWire\Wings Over Europe\ObjectsData.CAT 3. I have scrolled to the bottom of the list looking for anything called "weaponsdata.INI and I can not find anything with that name. The only thing that starts with the letter "W" is WALLEYE 1.BMP, WALLEYE 1.INI, WALLEYE 1.LOD etc, etc... but, NO weaponsdata.INI file. I want to thank you guys again from the bottom of my heart for being so patient with me and not getting frustrated with my inability to understand this but, what am I doing wrong? You're telling me it should take just a couple minutes to accomplish this task but, I have already spent 6 hours between tonight and last evening trying to figure this out. All I want is the fuel tanks to appear on my Tornado. LOL!!!! I have read through the links that Fast Cargo posted over and over again. I have many different windows open in my browser re-reading this information as I try to deduct where I am going wrong with this procedure. I must be missing something small that I just do not see. -

By opening the weapondata.ini file with the weapons editor does that constitute extracting it? And is a "configuration file" an "ini" file? Because I can not find anything with a ".ini" file extension. I haven't given up yet and still trying to wrap my head around this. -

WHOA! Wow! After reading ALL of that information I have decided this is far and beyond the scope of my current capabilities or desires. This process is much more complicated than I could have ever imagined. I simply wanted the weapons and fuel tanks to appear on the aircraft I had added to my game. I didn't realize I needed a degree in computer programing to do it. LOL!!! I'm sorry. I joke. But, seriously... THANK YOU ALL VERY VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING. This is a wonderful, warm and friendly community and I honestly appreciate everyone who tired to help me and point me in the correct direction. This process simply requires someone much more technically savvy and with a lot more patience than I. -

I opend the "weaponsdata" text documet inside the "Weapons" folder from the downloaded Tornado F3 aircraft folder from the Column 5 web site. The only thing I see called "weaponsdata". I then opened the "QuickStart" text document, read the instructions and copied and pasted the "following lines" (the code listed below this sentence.) to my "weaponsdata" text document I had already opened. -

I think this is the root of my confusion. I do not see a number that already exists. It simply states "XXX". I have cut and pasted what was provided in the instructions below. They look identical. I searched through the knowledge base but, I am unable to find a detailed enough explanation or step by step directions of what to do exactly do to get this to work properly. I have an example below. I have downloaded the new Tornado F3 jet from the Column 5 web site. I have placed the EFFECTS, SOUNDS and AIRCRAFT in all the appropriate WOE folders. I have also placed the contents of the WEAPONS folder from the download into the Objects/Weapons folder of WOE. It asks me to add the following lines to my WeaponsDATA.ini and to Change the XXX with the first available number in the weapons sequence and remember to open the .ini file with the "weaponeditor" to make the changes effective? Whew! What is the first available number? 1? And do I copy and paste this under the existing code? It appears to be the same code. It also asks that I open this file with a "weapons editor" and not the notepad program? I hope you can understand my confusion. Thanks guys for the incredibly fast reply! But, I will admit, I am still VERY SLOW at understanding this concept. Back up a little. I do not even understand where I am supposed to find this "WeaponDATA.INI" file. Is it a single file for the entire game or is it an individual file for each aircraft? I understand once I find this file to open it with the Notepad program, cut and paste this data but, re-number and compile? -

Hi guys. I'm knew here. I just downloaded and installed the Desert Storm modification for the Wings Over Europe flight sim successfully. However, I seem to be having some issues and wondered if you have any suggestions to correct the problems. First when I try to start a campaign, I get a CRASH TO DESKTOP. And when I try to load a mission the aircraft I fly (F/-18 for example in a strike mission) does not have any weapons. When I went to load weapons on it there were none available. Can someone help me out here? What am I doing wrong? Thanks! -

Thanks a million guys! I had an older update I guess. This mod is FANTASTIC! I can finally fly my beloved F/A-18 Hornet over the sands of Iraq. It reminds me of Hornet 3.0 that I used to play back in the late 1990's. Wow! What a treat. Thank you!!! -

Thanks guys for the fantastic and fast reply to my questions. However, 1. I did a complete and fresh install of WOE. 2. I patched WOE to the 2008 Patch. 3. I deleted the default WOE Aircraft folder. 4. I deleted the default WOE Campaigns folder. 5. And I ran each installation .exe file. 1, 2 and 3 and pointed them to my new and fresh installation of WOE. Unfortunately, 1. I still do not have any weapons on any aircraft but, the Weapons folder is full of weapons. 2. I still get a (crash to desktop) when I try to run a campaign. 3. And I have some weird magenta and blue clouds! P.S. I am most disturbed about not having ANY weapons on ANY aircraft. I can't figure this one out. -

This is great information but, it is not complete. How do you open or edit a .tga file? I tried "Paint" in the Microsoft Windows XP operating system but, it could not open the file. I assume this is a graphic I need to change the size of. I have conducted searches in this forum for "How to edit a .tga file?" and "What is a .tga file" without any success. I would appreciate your assistance in this matter. Thank you so much! -

Thanks for the heads up. I've tried three different graphics applications available for the Microsoft Windows XP operating system and I do not find that option in any of them. I assume each graphics program would save the file in the original format that it was opening it from. I could be wrong. Thank you for your help though. I really appreciate everyone's quick responses to my questions. It's too bad. The F/A-18 is one of my favorite aircraft. I sure wish I could have gotten it to work in the game. -

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your quick response to my questions. I downloaded the "Gimp" program and I thought I succesfully reduced the size of the image by 50% and save over the old file. But, this had no effect. I'm still seeing a large white square in the middle of my H.U.D. in the F/A-18 from Mirage Factory plane.
