All Enclusive Weapons Pack
sparkomatic replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I liked flying over it in that A310 and flushing the toilet repeatedly after texmex night...that evilcommbuildingofinfinity keeps showing up again...back to the terrain files! -
wait a minute...

There has to be more to the Universe than just us...go outside and look up (works better at night) and tell me that we are it...hey, they Europeans didnt believe in China or Japan not to mention a little place (to be) called North America... Also, no one believed Galileo...

All Enclusive Weapons Pack
sparkomatic replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
as mentioned in many other threads, just take what you like from each. Personally installed TMF (since it required the least work and I am lazy) then pulled from Bunyap's most excellent Soviet goodies (Kh-25MPT, et al)...but I agree that while totally cool, squinting through those lines after lines of artistry to grab two things to hurl at a commbuilding...though I often dropped "irritants" on the aforementioned commbuilding just because I could. Dont complain, some of us remember when there were no weapons packs... -
dudes...that is like fighting over 11th place...go to your local mall...I guarantee there are more attractive women there than in any of the Services...seriously.

Flying Missions.....The Reality of it in My Eyes......
sparkomatic replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There is another aspect which I have seemingly enjoyed mentioning over the past years...maintenance and accidents. Look at the F-105 service in Viet Nam...some people can quote losses by SAM v. AAA but look at the proverbial next column, that of accidents...staggering. Often I have trumpeted for iL-2 series (no where near perfect) but the game apparently had a random generator that would cause accidents at times (nursed my flight of beloved La-5's all the way home after a fierce tangle with butcher birds only to lose 2 in a collision in the pattern...from all accounts that was more common than movies would lead one to think). Sometimes one takes off, does air to air refueling twice and then lands after converting fuel to noise for a few hours...and that would be mission accomplished. A good mission objective is same number of planes land that took off. Doesnt sound very "silk scarf" does it? But I suspect that the buying public would not dig flipping circuit breakers, memorizing emergency procedures (in multiple aircraft, but that is a different story) watching a jumpy oil pressure gauge for 4+ hours or filing paperwork/forms/briefings/maintenance logs. How about a game where you have to work your way up from a mighty T-6 Texan II (and go through academics for months before you even smell that weird asbestos/sweat/puke aroma that has been accumulating for 30 years)? Then the briefs, forms, logs, paperwork, and by the way you have another job(s) to do within the Squadron as well? Oh, and then you get sent to a staff tour? Think about it... -

I have no desire to hijack this thread in to a political debate...carried to PM... the B-1B is cool, period. -
Bad To The Bone...

easy: Jimmy "gave away the Panama Canal" Carter. As well as the worst documented Spec Ops disaster in recorded history he tried to push an already suffering DoD into handing out flowers to Commies. -

I am so stupid...
sparkomatic posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
So, despite 5 years of TK products I just made a total rookie move and man does it sting in the junk...previously, I downloaded the Sep 2k8 patch for WOI and being lazy I just sent it straight to my WOI directory. I am quite happy to say that it worked perfectly. Then this morning, being an idiot, I downloaded the Sep 2k8 patch for WOE, pointed it at my beloved, so modified that it is not the same game any more WOE install and hit "destroy"...which is what it just did. Then, being a subscriber to this fine forum I was like, "hmm let me check the boards ex post facto"...damn...damn...damn. 3rd wire products are like that crazy girlfriend that you cant get enough of but set fire to your sofa... -

Ack! Had not thought of that! Quickly don the aluminum brain shields! -
to be fair, Dave deserves a little credit after all of the abuse he endured before he came out of the clo...I mean from when he was USABLT.

ninja skills! deleted all others...took the F2, CTL+C, F2, CTL+V and tried again...worked...there was some sort of "invisible" glitch in the naming of the folder and the *.ini file...perhaps it was an extra space at the end? thanks! -

quadruple checked...even ripepd the LOD out and put it in a copy of the J-8 folder (since that one worked). re-downloaded like 4 times and tried all of that as well...just odd -
YAK-25 series
sparkomatic posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
So I tried search (which is still very uncooperative) and every time I try to load any of the YAK-25 series I get CTD...no doubt this has been fixed for a while and 8 people will tell me to check some other thread. Little frustrated with the search feature. Perhaps there is a knowledge base article on how to use the search feature successfully? Cheers -

AD, thought he had moved to Thailand...yep, that fine Su-17 is STILL one of my absolute favorites and his Khorat terrain is still without compare. Glad that he didnt go the way of Thompson. Cheers! -

- muscular dudes in tiny panties grabbing each other with drama and somewhat of a storyline thrown in? And do not mention the steroid-zoned "women" either...not really my bag, but lots of people like it.
