  1. Should you switch to Blue Ray?

if ever this clip applied, it applies to this discussion thread: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=EvNeHthx3Ng HDDDVDVD
  2. Pure class...

    "that's your Swatch, that is..."
  3. ICEMAN - The later Years

I liked it so much I had already posted this link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=30411&hl= look at post #48
  4. Any more modern jet flight sim

PC games themselves, sad to say, are on life support...even in Alaska (was there TDY in May) the electronics stores (like Babbages) had essentially a dark corner near the re-sale bin that held their allotment of PC games...once the other way around with PC games dominating shelf-space. I, of course, blame Duke Nukem Forever...and Al Gore and eraser_tr... Besides it seems that almost everyone that still uses PC flight sims in on this forum...and about 30,000 cant keep economic models like that fluent.
  5. Now thats a torpedo!

    - "Now thats a torpedo!"...that is what she said...

  8. blast from the past

    legendary "Origin"...they were so awesome!
  9. media unbiased?

Anyone else noticed of late that every web story has a picture of Obama like in some glamor shot or looking posed like a Roman statue while McCain looks like he is belching or scratching or thinking about lunch? I actually saw a couple of google news articles kick up McCain headlines and still had Obama in the photo instead...nice, very nice... So long and thanks for all of the fish!
  10. media unbiased?

"it took five days, but McCain finally found a platform from which he could..." Just saw that on CNN...I f*ing kid you not...un-f-biased?
  11. Are there any runners here...?

wait...you live 10 minutes from the beach and are running on the road? Eh...stop wasting time and run on the beach, absolutely nothing is better than a beach run...except swimming...which an open water swim is the finest of all...so stop reading a forum about airplanes-in-Tron and go work out on the beach
  12. So Long and Thanks for All the Fish!

Well, moving day has finally arrived...and much to my displeasure must leave Okinawa...even though I spent 664 days TDY and endured 2x ORI, 2x UCI, 1x ASEV, 23x ORE, a combat deployment of 9 months, 4x Group Commanders, 4x Wing Commanders, and 5x Squadron Commanders would not have traded this place for anything, except to stay longer. Managed to encourage capitalism in 17 countries and made many friends along the way. Cant say that it was always fun, but it was most certainly never boring! Have many more things to say, but then some would construe that as pompous bragging, and that is not cool. Merely wanted to share with my comrades-in-Tron a significant occasion. May be more absent than usual during the transition, and then may log on everyday as an escape from the reality of boxes and hotel rooms. Hope this message finds all of you well, and those that have experienced the trials and travails of a PCS (or any move for that matter) please send your kindest prayers as I need all of the help that I can get right now. Cheers! So Long and Thanks for All the Fish!
  13. Are there any runners here...?

wait...so I should wear fur shorts? That may chafe a bit, no?
  14. Are there any runners here...?

there are people that do extreme marathons...one fellow ran one hundred miles to the start of a marathon...then ran the marathon. wolves also do not wear shoes...that is why shoes that work are important since they help reduce the effect of the pavement...then again ever do a grass run? I dont mean soccer I mean find a lot of green and run through the wilderness like God intended...it is MUCH harder on the body...seems those fertile valleys are not as smooth as the picture on your desktop indicates... and again, if you read the entire paragraph I clearly stated that some of you would laugh...every one has their own ideas about exercise and for Americans it is like religion and politics and supermarkets...only their ideas are the right ones and all other ideas are contrary to the light and therefore worthy only of disrepute.
  15. Here we go again...

A new Cold War? Pay raises for all of my friends!
  16. If there's ever a contest for best sig pic...

I like wpnssgt and Daves as well...but Sony has one of the best avatars (after mine, of course)
  17. Hey Sparky.....

    - awesome, had not seen this one yet! - have drawn comparisons between McPeak and Moseley before myself...no lost love there - can anyone tell me why he always wore that "Jolly Green" patch when even his official USAF bio only lists trainers and Eagles? Can I wear a STS patch since I know a couple of those guys and they gave me a patch? Seriously... http://www.af.mil/bios/bio.asp?bioID=6545 - Glad that Gates directed an immediate stop to the axing as well...
  18. Are there any runners here...?

have run three marathons, and usually run daily as a means to prevent judicious application of firearms on the deserving shin splints are a matter of form...supposing that you have shoes that are comfortable (does not mean expensive, just what works for you). I have friends that do the new shoes a month...whatever...I have a pair of Nikes that cost $65 on sale and have put over a thousand miles on them... Best advice I can give you...and you will all laugh...watch a nature show on Wolves...they have been recorded running literally for days on end...its all in their stride...they use a "loose gait" that basically involves a forward-fluid motion and low impact...they hold their feet through the entire stride rather than slamming it down into the ground like I watch 98% of people do...takes practice, but you will know when you get it right... if this is unclear or you want to know more, send the PM to me cheers
  19. So, are you eclectic?

Eclectic? Eh...no...those muscle magazines are so I can perfect my form, man...seriously stay out of my closet. So long and thanks for all of the fish!
  20. Can't believe no one's seen this snippet

    - Eh...Top Gun was cool in 1986...it was a movie and was very popular...Navy recruiting went up like double digits that year. - Tom Cruise has brought in over $9 billion (about 32 Euros at todays exchange rate) in his career - McGillis has had a very hard life...please read her biography and, in that frame, she still looks great - The vast majority of the ticket buying public does not care if it is accurate, they want cool and sexy and besides every one on this forum will watch it at least once...that is still revenue - Ejections are still very dangerous and people die despite ejection seats...the movie again was not a documentary...one reading the news this week knows that fatalities still occur - I have always been impressed with the "trivia" (obviously do not know if it is true or not, but has been listed on reputable web sites) that the director wanted the sun on the other side of the carrier for the very famous opening scene...the Captain refused, saying it would cost $15,000 to turn the boat around (which makes me question the validity of the story) and the director paid the sum on the spot. If it is true, then it is one of the coolest film making stories every...if it is poop, it is still one of the coolest film making stories ever - "Blue Max" is one of my all time favorite movies, any genre, period. One might also enjoy (but must make a commitment since it is over 6 hours long) "Piece of Cake". Also consider "Dawn Patrol" and "Call to Glory". - While not a movie, certainly worth your attention since you are on this forum is the book (I know, nobody reads any more) "Bury Us Upsidedown"...you will laugh, cry, hate, and want to hug those guys (in a mission-focused, combat-oriented way of course). - "So long and thanks for all of the fish!"
  21. Favorite song

  22. Soldier Dies For Country Not Yet His Own

    JediMaster is exactly right
  23. Soldier Dies For Country Not Yet His Own

    - what, that all of our dead should be recognized? That is not an opinion, gwar...
  24. Soldier Dies For Country Not Yet His Own

Eh...have to disagree with this line of reasoning...no one, seriously no one joins the military "willing to die for his country"...simply because that would be suicidal and they tend to kick you out for that...you are in far more danger driving to work (statistically speaking) than being in the military right now...have you forgotten the invulnerability of youth? No one thinks it is going to happen to them. While the sacrifices are great indeed, they are well advertised as being sacrifices. Citizenship is a matter which people are quite willing to die for (or take for granted completely, but that is Nature's whim) so why should he be any different than those that make across the border every day? Think that is not risky? Of course it is. Blanket anything does not work...period...just joining the military should not grant citizenship either. No, I am not going all "Starship Troopers" here and I am intimately familiar with how expensive, time consuming, and difficult the naturalization process is as well (On more than one level, but that is a different story). Yes, this man was sacrificed on the alter of freedom, and yes we should honor his memory. But he can join the ranks in Valhalla with all of our fallen comrades-in-arms. All of our dead are deserving of remembrance...so why make this one a hero? This article is for political gain in a time when America has been grappling with the issue of so many illegal immigrants...no doubt someone will try to make a case of it during one of the endless political campaign speeches this year (not saying he was an illegal immigrant). Ever here of this fellow: "Randy Matheny" ? Is it entirely necessary to place the names of not only the dead, but those tens of thousands wounded as well? What about their sacrifices? Where is their topic of debate and "here, here" 's? And why do we still have POW/MIA on everything? I personally fully support the new banner of KIA/WIA...that is our generation, those our our brothers and sisters. And while broaching that topic...I recently attended an NCO Academy graduation...what an intriguing spectacle...immediately after the POW/MIA remembrance they recited the newfangled Airman's Creed..."I will leave no one behind"...bit late for that, eh? Poor production timing...you just honored those left behind and then affirm that no one gets left behind...not a fan of that Airman's Creed as it must be a product of Moseley...every line nearly starts with "I"...werent we taught that is bad manners and something regards the spelling of "team"...why doesnt it start every line with "We"...rather like a document I am sworn to defend, against all enemies Foreign and Domestic (that last bit is my favorite..."and Domestic"). "We the People..." I rather like the idea of an American Foreign Legion...but then I am also in favor of the reviving the Works Progress Administration as well...no job...hold on...we have roads to be paved and trash to be collected and it is time to instill some pride into American again; no, the pride of a job well done, not inherited. Cheers
  25. just for the record, I had to look up "Annie Fanny"...
