russ returns...oh man...that is awesome news! -
true...and reading other forums offer no solution other than the standard...delete it ocmpletely and then re-install it...it sometimes works... Like how MS tried to get people to pay for a patch since SP1 was originally only released with Accelerator...bastards

Is WoE easier then LOMAC?
sparkomatic replied to Alexrey's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Eh...BVR? For a MiG-21 with Atoll's? I mean there are a couple of MiG-23 with Apex on board in the game, but correct me if I am wrong...the time period and order of battle of the represented time and place does not support a lot of BVR opportunity. Again, I am certainly not an expert in this game's particular segment of history (though it is very interesting). -
Solid topic and well responded...

- "and I think in real life the Su-27 is supposed to be better than the F-15 (at least in a dogfight)" - Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. This particular view conflicts with my own, but it is perfectly plausible to feel that way. I always enjoy hearing / reading different perspectives on the matter, it is what makes an open society and certainly the Internet as a means of communication so amazing. -
F-105 campaign missions-running out of fuel
sparkomatic replied to Foxendown's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wasnt there, but from everything I have read (Route Pack Six, etc) the real F-105 sorties involved in-flight re-fueling inbound before leaving Thailand and tankers were awaiting their return to Thailand. Read more than one account of a Thud floating in on fumes after leaving RP6...bear in mind that means it had essentially 90% fuel on board when it left the safety of Thailand for roughly a 20 minute there and out to the tankers again...in WOV you are often tasked to make the entire journey on one fuel load whereas in reality they would have used nearly three times that. So, without aerial refueling, it is not all that much fun. There is a way to hack the game into essentially reversing fuel flow at a set throttle position (someone exceedingly better versed in the game mechanics discovered this, NOT me) thus adding fuel while flying, but only at a controlled point (just like aerial refueling). Say you set the hack for 23% throttle, in that case when the throttle was set to 23%, the fuel flow reverses and you gain fuel at an adjustable rate. This allows you to mimic receiving fuel. I used this technique (again, someone else discovered it) and applied it to Starfighter2 most excellent NF-104 (the rocket assisted one) and could thereby extend the range of the jet by essentially adding gas after reaching altitude (which also enabled me to burn all of the fuel in the dash since I could refuel anywhere, but you can impose limits on yourself). Can also get all formal with it and set a tanker in a mission profile, rendezvous / fly formation with it and use the throttle setting you determined in order to add fuel, then off you go to spread democracy. Dont like it? I dont care...just giving you options...you could wait until 3wire implements aerial refueling...or you could just live with it...either way I still dream of Alyssa Milano. -
tell me a flight sim that has...(part 2)

I liked Jane's USAF, pinnacle of that series, and the interaction was years ahead of WOI... -
- no doubt about Speicher...they had a FOB named after him when I was there - seems like we had confirmed 3 of the 4 from June 2007...but again I am not certain...how sad is that, we dont know?
-
thought of the 4 that were captured in Jun 2007 that evidence had been recovered of 3 of them and Speicher from D/S was the other...the multitude of sources seem conflicting though
-
eh? cant you see her name tag there...you know the one above her left breast?
-
Still have 2 MIA, one from D/S...

Wingman Skill vs Experience?
sparkomatic replied to gosquidgo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I remember in CFS2 that there was a sort of "hidden" pilot skill score...it mattered in regards the ace...experienced...novice categories...not perfect, but it did seem that "ace" dudes kept coming back and getting kills while dudes annotated as "novice" usually either stayed back or didnt come back...but that was like 6 years ago Have noticed no correlation in this game...maybe a patch? But the AI is performing as good as the patch 2 days, so I am inclined that it be left alone since patch 3 was crap compared to patch 2 AI...who needs a wingman any way? -

Wingman Skill vs Experience?
sparkomatic replied to gosquidgo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
ah...not saying it doesnt happen, brother, just that when I feel like getting dirty and doing a CAS mission I ALWAYS switch to "Y", then "F8", then wait for it and with Snoopy highlighted (eh, high-lit?), I watch...every time he says the same thing...sometimes he even rolls toward the general vicinity of the battle, but then nothing... Now I think I read a post that says it worked in YAP, which I do not have. Maybe they just dont like me...would not be the first time, but then do I really need him with all of that dust and smoke kicked up by an armour confrontation? Oh, and the "E" key helps as well. Just angry that the bugger is getting combat pay and that is probably where all of my SFP1 and WOV and WOE medals went, to Snoopy...b@st@rd...
