  5. Ya'll Take Care

Hope to see you when I get back USAFMTL. I am leaving myself in about 5 hours to get on a big white bird and fly east to my ship. Can't wait small beds, bad food, people that don't care. Hey wait do you want to trade, at least I will be able to complain to the WaPo about the sorry state of affairs at the medical center.
  6. To edit any of the stock aircraft in the game you will need to download, the SFP1 Extraction tool. It is located here at CombatAce. click me!. From there you will want to open up object.cat file in your objects folder. Then scan for the F-15A_data.ini file and click on the extraction button. SFP1E can only extract one selected file at a time and it will extract it to the directory where CAT file is located. So for example if you do extract the F-15A_data.ini file then it will be extracted to your main object folder. Once you have made the changes that you want to it, will need to save it in the directory of aircraft.
  7. Playing around trying to figure something else in another thread I put in the following line on the Mirage Factory's F-18A. "2SA" on to a pair of pylons and got the following result The loadout screen It looks like I can carry dual Sparrows on the same rail. In flight with a couple of these selections on myself and my wingmen As you can see the program doesn't seem to put the Sparrows on a dual rail like it would have done for a 2IR code It did do it for the AMRAAM and also put one underneath sort of like a TER. Now for the Coup de grace 10 'winders MUAHHHH! 2 on the wingtips and 4 on stations two and eight. Just thought I would share this little tidbit for your aircraft designers.
  8. To my understanding there isn't anyway to have unlimited ammo in any of the ThirdWire games. The difference in the way that weapons settings work in how powerful and accurate they are. Easy- Very accurate and even a near miss will achieve a kill Normal- Still accurate but a weapon still needs to be launched in with in limits, still a large explosion but you need to be hit the target or get really close to get a kill Hard- Missiles and other guided weapons will need to be launched with in strict parameters. They are only as accurate as thier ratings, so for example if you launch an AIM-9B at a taget climbing near the sun and the target manuvers out of the way the missile may start to follow the sun. The explosions are normal size and to achieve a kill you will need to get a direct hit, anything else will cause damage.
  9. F-35A

try here, JSF offical website photo gallery
  10. You will want to look for the file titled "XXX_data.ini" where XXX is the name of the aircraft your are tweaking. From there add the line "2SA" in "AllowedWeaponClass=" line under the pylons section.
  11. There is no way to add extra pylons to the actual aircraft model with out redesigning the model from the ground up. There is a copy of the F-15I and the F-15K here in the download pages. So if you wanted to get an F-15K I would suggest looking around and downloading it for yourself. Both the SU-30 and the MiG-35 are WIPs and will come out when the designers finish them.
  12. F-23A

The default keys to the open the bomb bay is CRTL-O.
  13. helphelphelp

If you have your game disk, then just doing a re-install will give you back your WOE.exe file. However, I would recommending backing up any changes you made to such things as the terrian data or weapons.
  14. The only other USAF aircraft that was tested and actually used to launch and recover onboard an Aircraft carrier was the U-2G. It had a strengthen tailhook, and strengthen landing gear. A U-2 was launched by the US Navy in the mid-60's off the USS Ranger to observe the French nuclear tests near Tahiti. There were a series of issues with the plan and in the end all three groups (CIA, US Navy, and USAF) backed out of using U-2's onboard. Those aircraft modified were reverted back to regular inventory.
  15. Except that for the C-130 didn't use a tailhook rather the pilots killed the engines at the right time and then they used the thrust reverse capabilities of the T56 engine to taxi the aircraft all the way to the fantail and took off again. An article about the C-130 flown on the USS Forrestal. THe pilot was awarded the Navy Cross, for this exercise. The pilot was also famous in his own right, he was then Lt. James Flatley III who was the son of the famous USN fighter pilot James Flatley II. The senior Flatley was the original skipper of VF-10 the Grim Reapers when they deployed with Carrier Air Group 10 onboard the USS Enterprise during the fight for Guladcanal.
  16. ARM lock-on

LZ, In real life the Standard ARM did have better electronics so if the missile was launched early enough and the bad guys did shut down the radar site then its onboard brain would still guide the missile in the same path that it last detected the signal in the hope that the bad guys would turn on the radar again so the missile could try and guide. If not then after a certain time period it would detonate its warhead. That along with the improved range (something on the order of 25-30nm)of the Standard ARM versus the Shrike was what made it the steller ARM until the arrival of of the HARM missile in the mid-80's. Also the Standard ARM seaker was designed to go seek a whole range of radio frequencies and not just one specific one. In the game world the only advantage that I have noticed with the Standard ARM was that it was able to fly a little further then the Shrike and it had a slightly better ability to guide towards off launch bearing targets. In real life the Shrike ARM was basically a series of the AIM-7C Sparrow III airframes that were modified to carry a guidance package for the "Fan Song" missile guidance radar for the SA-2 missile. The optimum way to achieve its maximum engagement range of something like 10nm was for the launching aircraft pitch up to about 15 to 20 degrees nose up and launch the missile that way. It was designed to fly in a ballistic arc to the target and on the downward half of the arc the seeker would acquire the radar's emissions and guide the missile to its target. Think of it similar to shooting a basketball into a hoop, the hoop, even if the ball lands on the rim it still has a pretty good chance of spinning around a couple of times before falling in for the score. If the Shrike lose the signal at any time except for the last 50-100 yards to the target then the missile would go dumb and dive straight for the ground even if it picked the radar again. Also the Shrike's seeker couldn't see outside of a 15deg arc infront of it. So you had to be facing and flying right into the radar site for the missile to acquire. Finally the other major problem with the Shrike was that its seaker was tuned to acquire a certain radar's frequency. So if you had multiple threats then you had to either carry multiple Shrikes and know which was which or have additional aircraft in your strike package each one going after a different SAM site with a different Shrike. In the game again except for the shorter range I have not noticed some of these same limitations with Shrike. Finally, from talking to family friends who use to fly the A-6B Intruder in Iron Hand missions during Linebacker I and II. THey told me that you really didn't have an audio or visual shooting cue all the time when using either ARM and that although the B/N would try to use software in his half of the cockpit to try and help the Standard ARM to acquire and offending site, it was more up to the pilot to fly into the teeth of the defenses so that the offending site was the one that was strongest signal being detected and then just shove a missile down thier throats when the B/N felt they were in range.
  17. The F-5A Freedom Fighter and the later F-5E Tiger were simple aircraft and they capable of using the AIM-9 Sidewinder series missiles, the standard Mk80 series of bombs, rockets, and some other dumb bombs. The F-5E was given in some models sold overseas the capablity to launch the AGM-65 Maverick. All of these weapons should be part of the weapons pack and you should be able to load those on your aircraft at the game's loadout screen.
  18. If you still have your game disk then you should be able to do a re-install that can put the files you deleted back in.
  19. Eightlien Only problem is that no Intruders flew from any of the Essex class boats during the Vietnam war. It was either the Midway class, Forrestall, Kitty Hawk, or Enterprise that Intruder squadrons flew from. The Essex boats were too small. That being said looks like a cool mission. If you do another one I would suggest the 1967 raid on the Hanoi Power Plant by the Lt. Lyle Bull (the B/N) and LCDR Charlie Hunter (pilot). This awarded both the crew the Navy Cross. I happen to meet Lyle Bull who retired as a Vice Admiral from the Navy at a Tailhook convention in 2004, and interesting gentleman. Very humble too. Charlie Hunter went on to retire as a Rear Admiral from the Navy and past away in the mid-90's. Digging around on the internet I found thier story.
  20. Go to here, Deuces Strike Fighters Mods and there are new terrian tiles and various effect packages (such as smoky SAMs)
  21. Clickable Cockpits

I think that clickable cockpits have been phased out since a number of companies (like GoFlight) have been building actual desktop boxes that through either serial or USB cables will do things such as raise/lower your gear advance your throttles, change radios/radar displays, etc. Also through a number of people in the MSFS community have posted at various places on the internet how for less then 100 dollars US you can build your own radio stack or build your own exterior throttle quadrant. I have also seen various people have written software for either thier blackberry or Palmpilot to emulate radar or GPS displays complete with its own touch screen.
  22. There is no JP233 for the WOE or any of the other games. The game engine can not model its usage and effects properly. As it stands right now there is no way to change the ATC voices. The best that I could tell you to do would be find the voice file you want to change in the Speech folder of your game directory. Then record a new one using windows sound recorder, change the name to the old one and there you go.
  23. SFP, WOV, and WOE are all set in times before the introduction of these more modern systems, remember these games were designed for aircraft introduced in the late 50's and early 60's. When all you really needed was an engine, wings, some gas and you could go turn and burn to your hearts delight. The introduction of IR missile warning systems (and missile launch warning systems in general) are pretty new and were introduce in the late-90's. Before that one had to depend on the RWR, your wingman, and the good ol'fashion Mk 1 eyeball. The game engine itself, to my understanding, works as best it can with the RWR that you see in the F-4 and a few other aircraft. To introduce a more complex radar warning system would probably require a code tweak.
  24. A question about "Steel Beasts".....

Chief, I have Steel Beasts Gold, which was the original verison with some expanded scenarios. Basically this is a simulator of modern tank operations in either an M1A1 or a Lepoard 2 main battle tank. I have not played it in about 5yrs but it was pretty fun at the time I was playing it. If I remember there isn't a campaign as much rather a series of missions that you will engage such targets as T-72's, BMP's, Mi-24's, BTR's etc. It is supposed to be customizable and pretty easy to do editing and modding. The current verison that you can buy is a modified verision of the one that the company sells to the military and government. It is called Steel Beast Pro- Personal Edition. The only thing is that at 125 dollars it is completely out of my price range. I would recommend that you do a search online at Ebay or even amazon for Steel Beasts Gold. That will give you best game at the cheapest price. I think that website, Steelbests.com, which is a fan site would let you know more about the game and its versions.
  25. Jtin, How about this one, Year:1975 During Operation Frequent Wind, the North Vietnamese Army shoot down a couple of the helicopters carrying American Civilians. All on board these helicopters are killed. The US military responds with military strikes against the North Vietnamese Army. This would give you a chance to add an pair of F-14A squadrons along with most of the other WOV aircraft. VF-1 and VF-2 were on board the USS Enterprise when the Enterprise was deployed to Task Force 77. Though the squadrons didn't cross the beach they did provided air cover of the fleet. Or this one "Dixie station" Create a campaign that covers the first 10 days of a 30 day line period in Vietnam for a carrier air wing where they would fly operations off South Vietnam. These were usually close air support missions or Armed Road Rec missions along the Ho Chi Minh trail through out the whole time of the Vietnam war. Usually after this line period the ship would head north and start to fly operations in Yankee station.
