Man, that was quick! Very nice rendition of 198/17. I expect TK's new late war crosses makes your job a lot easier, eh? RE: References for Dr.I's. You've probably seen this already, but just in case...Although the pics are quite small, this site's very good. Notice the little UK flag for English text: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...l%3Den%26sa%3DN Hope it helps. Bucky -

Hmm...All of a sudden I'm not so confident 'bout those drivers. I'll check 'em out.

Hi Quack. Don't wanna hassle ya, but I was just wondering if those Jasta 14 tripe's (or any others) are still in the pipeline? Regards. Bucky -
Hi P10ppy. I've tested a few different graphics settings, but no change. The "FireMaterial" section in the PARTICLESYSTEM.INI is as it should be too. It definitely doesn't happen in my FE+EP+Peter01FM's install either, so I'm kinda confident it isn't my DX9, or vidcard drivers. I'll take your advice and ask TK. Thanks again for your time and trouble. Bucky

I hate to impose on you further P10ppy, but do you have any idea why the gun muzzle flashes are now visible through solid objects, ie, upper wings, and even under fuselages? I thought it might have rectified itself with a fresh install, but it's still happening. Thanks in advance for any help. Bucky.

Nice one, P10ppy. Suddenly everything's clear... Cheers, man.

Thanks for the input fella's. I haven't got a clue what the technicalities of the problem are, and I have to say, as far as the official plane set is concerned, since I made a new install before adding the Nov 08 patch, I haven't seen the missing decal glitch since. However, when I was trying out some add on planes, the missing decals problem came back, big time...It seems to me, that any add-on German planes using late war crosses will be missing all their national insignia and personal markings. I sort of got round the problem by editing the DECALS.INI in the plane's skin folder. For instance, a section of the SSW D.III's original DECAL.INI looked like this: [Decal010] MeshName=WingTopO_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Jasta4/D/TCross Position=-3.2421,-0.0800 Scale=1.55 DecalMaxLOD=3 Reverse=True The game no longer seems to recognise: "Jasta4/D/TCross", so I replaced all those entries with "Insignia". Thus: [Decal010] MeshName=WingTopO_L DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.2421,-0.0800 Scale=1.55 DecalMaxLOD=3 Reverse=True It then worked OK, although any personal markings, like Udet's "LO!", on his Jasta 4 SSW D.III still won't appear. I had to do the same thing with the Pfalz D.III, 'cause the game won't recognise the title: "Plain Cross". Hope this helps in trying to work out what the problem is. Regards. Bucky

I had a feeling that might be the case. Too much haste sorting that IA CTD...I don't think TK even saw our "decals sometimes missing" posts. I wonder if P10ppy might be able to help with it?
-
My guess would be that you're using a skin made for the skunkworks Camel, which is incompatible with the expansion pack version? Regards. Bucky

Missing Albatros Decals (sometimes)
Southside Bucky replied to Sky High's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
The same thing's happening with two of the three Camels and the SE5a. I have mentioned it in this thread over at ThirdWire: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...=a&start=24 In order to make sure TK addresses the problem, maybe you, and anyone else with the same problem could do the same? Regards. Bucky -
New patch released for ALL ThirdWire sims.

Re: The 'Instant Action' CTD. TK's on the case: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...p;sk=t&sd=a Might be an idea to post any other problems there too. -
It's a windmill driven fuel pump, called a Rotherham pump. Although placed in a somewhat dangerous position for the pilot, it was thought to be better if it was placed within reach, in case of malfunction. An alternate placing was on the undercarriage struts. Bucky

Hey Quack! It seems that TK might've noticed this thread...The new October 08 patch seems to have the Dr.I's March '18, stubby cross included!

First impressions are good... Two definite imrovements: 1. The 'Windloop' sound bug's been fixed. So when the engine's disabled, you can hear the wind whistling through the wires...No more gliding to earth in total silence! 2. The rotary engine blip switch now works as it should. Also, I could be wrong, but I think ailerons, rudders and elevators are far less prone to fly off when hit by a bullet or two... All definite plus points, eh? Bucky -
anybody still working on stuff?

Hi Quack. In answer to your question in the "Read Me" for Pippart's plane. I think you've got the scheme right. Some people are of the opinion that the fuselage was dark blue, but seeing as Jasta 19's colours were black & yellow, the black fuselage makes a lot more sense. One thing I think might be helpful though, would be to name the skin folder with the pilot's name AND the Jasta number? ie, 'J19 Hans Pippart', or something similar? Reason is, it can be hard to remember which pilot flew in which Jasta. It then makes selecting a particular Jasta in the game menu a bit tricky. specially now you're producing so many! Really well done though, man...You're making an excellent contribution to the game! -

Just to confirm...Yeah, Lothar's Dr.I definitely comes with the EP. Incidentally, Quack. The Jasta 19 tripe, serial No. 433/17 (the one with the diamonds fuselage band), was flown by Ltn Arthur Rahn. All the others you don't have names for, remain unidentified. Thanks again for the latest additions...The Koerner "zigzag" is particularly nice! -

Cheers man! Actually, being as anally retentive about historical accuracy as I surely am, soon as I get a bit of time, the first thing I'm gonna do is revise and update my 'Richthofen's Final Two Victories' quick mission to include your schemes. Like I said: Keep 'em coming! -

Well, a few more from Jasta 2 would be great...Frommherz, Bolle and/or Loffler maybe? Then a few more from Jasta 19 would be nice. Then you could make a start on Jasta's 6, 12, 14 & 26!...That wouldn't be too much trouble, would it? -

Hi Tailspin. What with the new 'Knowledge Base' sticky 'n all, d'you think it might be helpful if there was a sticky regarding this topic too? Viz, which version of the game should be used with add-on planes? I imagine there must be quite a few people (newcomers in particular) that don't know about Peter's FM pack, or pulling their hair out 'cause the add-ons don't work properly with the 08 patch. Just a thought. -

If you only have room for one version on your HD, in terms of challenge, depth, fun and gameplay, the FE+EP+Peter01FM pack version is the way to go, IMHO.
