Some pics of Ground Object add-ons for download
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hi Heck. Referring to your comments above regarding adding armour and/or reducing the accuracy of fire. Can you tell me please, what DATA.INI text and settings I'd need to add or amend to achieve this? If it's not too much trouble, it'd be great if you could post a few of the DATA.INI settings you use yourself. Sorry for any inconvenience. Bucky -
Holy $#@+!!...That looks incredible! Tell us more...Like how long before you upload it? Brilliant work, Gumpy!

Anyone know of Alb DIII's of Jasta12
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Just realised, that to be historically accurate, von Osterroht and von Tutscheck's planes should not be used at the same time...von Tutscheck didn't take over as commander of Jasta 12 till April 28th...Five days after von Osterroht was killed. Never straightforward, is it! -

Have a look at Marek Mincbergr's website. He's an artist and modeller who obviously knows his stuff...He provides references for all his aircraft profile art, and he's done a few Jasta 12 D.III's...Very nice they are too! I know you've done a couple of 'em already, but I thought you'd like to see 'em anyway: http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=d-1958-16---jasta-12&plane=00002.00001.00002 http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=un-s---jasta-12-1&plane=00002.00001.00037 http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=d-1960-16---jasta-12&plane=00002.00001.00003 http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=d-2274-16---jasta-12&plane=00002.00001.00016 It seems that Jasta 12 began over-painting the rear fuselage and tails of their Alb D.III's sometime between March and April '17. In my opinion, I think you could legitimately portray the one with the three pointed star, and Hptm. Paul Henning von Osterroht's D.1958/16 both with black tails...But only just: von Osterroht (the commander of Jasta 12 at that time) was killed in a dogfight with 3 Naval Sqn Sopwith Pups on 23rd April. Interesting fact: von Osterroht (7 victories) flew two seaters earlier in the war. One of his observers was Manfred von Richthofen. -
Got a new Computer and a little Problem
Southside Bucky replied to A6Intruder's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I 'aint no expert, but I think its telling you that you're attempting to run the game with a version of DX9 that's out of date. Go here and D/L the latest: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en Here's hoping. Bucky -

Can't help with this one, Quack... Photos of Jasta 12 D.III's are almost nonexistent. Nice rendition of von Tutschek's machine though. -
Jasta 30 DIII's early 1917
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Excellent stuff, Quack! May I ask, have you changed the wing camo colours? Only the colours seem a little bit vivid to me. I think the game's standard early, three shade Albatros colours are pretty accurate. Just an observation, you understand. Regards. Bucky -
Hi Quack. Don't have much time for a detailed reply right now, but do you think it might have something to do with your waypoints? Try copying an existing mission file that you know that works, then change the planes, different skins etc. Place 'em somewhere else on the map, then try running it. Make sure you create a new restore point beforehand though.
-
Nice one! Glad you got it goin' To tell the truth, I'm glad you got hosed...I mean, It's meant to be kinda realistic, innit? Re: The Aerodrome. Seems we have a mutual interest in old comics as well as WWI planes, eh?
-
You 'aint having a lot of luck with all this, are ya? What terrain did you use to create that mission?...Whatever it was, try another one. Flanders always works for me.
-
Yeah, it's strange how the KMD went pear shaped all of a sudden...Maybe a certain amended file or two caused it?...I dunno. Fact is, I think you 'n me keep messing with the game's files to such an extent, it makes it next to impossible to trace the exact cause when things like this happen. Forgot to mention: It'll probably take a bit of time getting used to LM's interface, but once you do, I think you'll find it has the edge on the KMD.

Can't say I've come across the same problem myself. Taking the 'Voss vs 56 Sqn' mission as an example, all the 56 sqn letters seem to appear okay. However, the KMD mission builder stopped working properly with my FE install a few weeks ago for some inexplicable reason, so I tried the recently updated 'Le Missioneur' MB instead...I found it to be quicker and easier to use. Why not have a go using that instead? Hope that helps. Bucky

Jasta18 Pfalz DIII for download
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
That's 'cause the skin folder is inside the folder contained within the zip folder... -
Hi Spad13. I could be wrong, but I think the only critical requirement to make the mission run would be the terrain. The Voss mission (and all my others) requires the 'Flanders' terrain. Get it here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=4424 Any problems after that, get back to me, OK? Regards. Bucky

The Strutters Ball!
Southside Bucky replied to Southside Bucky's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Actually, after a bit more testing, I think I've settled on a min/max deflection of 75.0...It works for me. Bear in mind though, you don't really want this plane turning on a sixpence (or should I say a dime?)...The Strutter wasn't reknowned for its manoeuvrability. PS. I've just edited my previous post with the new setting. -
The Strutters Ball!
Southside Bucky replied to Southside Bucky's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Dunno 'bout the rudder reversal, Quack, but I thought the rudder could do with a bit more play too. In the DATA.INI, scroll down to 'Rudder' (It's near the bottom). I changed mine to read: [Rudder] SystemType=CONTROL_SURFACE InputName=YAW_CONTROL ReverseInput=TRUE MaxDeflection=75.0 <-----------Edit these two lines. MinDeflection=75.0 <----------- Makes the plane a bit more manoeuvrable...See what you think. -
Jasta18 Pfalz DIII for download
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hi Spad13. This little app is excellent for extracting RAR files: http://www.extractnow.com/ Just drag 'n drop the file into it and press the 'Extract' button. -
Hey Quack! Just saw your post over at the ThirdWire site. You made your point well, and with any luck, TK might just consider it... Good on ya, man.
-
Hi Stephen. Thanks for the email, and really pleased to hear you got the British Nieuport book (And so quick too!). The subject of Nieuport (17) upper wing guns has been driving me mad lately too...Mine disappeared 'bout a week ago for some inexplicable reason, even after downloading and installing all the required files as posted by Christian59 in post No.26 of this thread: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=31995&pid=303631&st=20entry303631 ...Wish I knew how to fix it... Gun problems notwithstanding, I'm really looking forward to seeing your British Nieuports, which I know will be most excellent...Especially Albert Ball's 16! All the best.

Dunno if this might save you a lot of time 'n effort, but TK will be producing both the Pfalz D.III and DIIIa in the next expansion pack...Though, when that'll actually be released, I don't know. -
Modders - whats on the list?

Jasta 18 Fokker DVII tail question
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
When you decide to get a D.VII book or two,...or three... Do yourself a favour and get these first: http://www.windsockdatafilespecials.co.uk/fokker-dvii-anthology-1-28-p.asp Not cheap when you add up the cost of all three, but the best D.VII books ever issued, no question. -
Jasta 18 Fokker DVII tail question

Silly question...Of course you wanna see it! Ltn. Heinz Kustner, looking pretty damn cool in a captured English flying coat. -
Jasta 18 Fokker DVII tail question
Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Yeah, I've seen it portrayed in a colour profile with the border stripes in light green, but that was obviously conjectural. Light or medium blue would be just as valid, so go for it! Incidentally, I found another picture of Kustner. Wanna see it? -

Southside Bucky replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Stunning, Quack!...A terrific set, with excellent research and attention to detail...Very well done mate! I'm still kinda curious where you found some of the schemes...Was it online somewhere? Ever seen this one? Pilot unknown. Fuselage and fin/rudder border colour unknown (light blue?). Note the tail stripes. Thanks again for a great contribution.
