  1. Two small things I do on a new copy: 1) Add modified INIs, like viewlist and huddata 2) Rename .exe appropriately, e.g. wov-steeltiger.exe
  2. What about trying it with: [strategicNode001] Area=Dong Hoi ConnectTo[001].Target=DMZ South West [strategicNode002] Area=DMZ South West ConnectTo[001].Target=DMZ South ConnectTo[002].Target=Dong Hoi [strategicNode003] Area=DMZ South ConnectTo[001].Target=Quang Tri ConnectTo[002].Target=DMZ South West and so forth. This way the nodes are all connected again and a path to base is created.
  3. No, I wanted to see the effect on the guards at the airports first and then see if the frontline further improves things.
  4. When you take a look at the unmodified WOVCAMPRT_DATA.INI, you'll see that Hanoi connects to Vinh Vinh connects to Hanoi Vinh connects to Khe Sanh Khe Sanh connects to Vinh Khe Sanh connects to Da Nang Da Nang connects to Khe Sanh Da Nang connects to Hue Hue connects Saigon Saigon connects to Da Nang So every ConnectTo is a one way step from that Node. The ConnectTo destination nodes are not followed as a path. I suspect that the computer tries to get to the opposing BaseArea, as specified in the [ForceXXX] section. So a unit starting in Hanoi will try to move via Vinh, Khe Sanh, Da Nang, Hue to Saigon. If you add one ground unit to the north and enable the ground offensive, then you will see that.
  5. Do you have a changelog for the things you added? If not, no worries, I can diff the files and see what changed from hand. Glad you're using the files I made almost a year ago - it's good to see that it's not lost.
  6. I started to change the ini's according to malibu43's suggestions. Seems to work ok with targettype=misc. However, the modified campaign still has the tendency to schedule strikes against the Noi Bai runway... I also found that the shipping route I set up between Haiphong and Vinh is used by trucks. I've added two Thai (USAF) units to Nakhon Phanom and Udon and hope this prevents the VC from infiltrating.
  7. You have to try Wittmann's Tiger in Villers Bocage in Panzer Elite if you're looking for insane odds!
  8. Thanks for checking this. I believe the best way would be to have strategic nodes in Thailand that protect the airbases there. The frontline might still look a bit weird, but better than now.
  9. I'm on a travel right now, I hope I find time for it in week 43 or 44.
  10. You need to extract the .INI files from flight\flightdata.cat I believe the terrain editor is available on http://www.thirdwire.com/
  11. Stock WoV terrain. I was flying from Yankee Station and watched the other flights while on my way to ingress. The submerged problem you describe does not appear for me.
  12. The files need to be reworked for the new patch, I believe. For example the WAREHOUSE target hack might no longer be needed. Is anyone aware of a new target type that can be used for the bases?
  13. Did anyone notice that low flying laden F-105 crash in the country side with the new patch applied? I saw a flight of four F-105 skimming the trees and once they were in rugged terrain two of the four planes disappeared... The number one plane also had no bombs left. Is the minimum altitude too low with the new patch?
  14. Flying the A-4 is quite nice. I like it for it's stable platform, it's great for learning bombing. It turns decently and I find scissors to be good for shaking off MiGs. The weapon load is for the size of the bird quite massive. On the downside, next to no acceleration and limited climb. I almost never go vertical. For survival, I reserve the right to chicken out on missions going Downtown. High threat environments with SAMs, AAA and MiGs lurking is best survived in the middle of a complete set of flights, running on your own is almost suicidal.
  15. Did anyone have luck with getting the quicker take off mod to work? It seems the parking positions are ignored.
  16. Thank You MK2

Thanks MK2! This site is invaluable for the Wings series. Great job in keeping it up and alive over all those years.
  17. You'll need to update all of them to have the complete targets and routes. Keep in mind that the campaign is also WIP and has not been finished, so expect to change the targets and types and movements a bit.
  18. Agreed. Even while I don't have the time right now to play any of the Wings series, it was a not a question to support TKs development with online ordering WoI right away. The only game (series) that comes close to overall entertainment for price value is Jagged Alliance.
  19. Have you tried the copying the terrain and campaign folder to WOI? I wonder if this will work and the armed recon missions and other benefits from WOI will work.
  20. I like that idea. After all the real conflict had not much of a frontline anyway. On the problem of interdiction strikes by the DRV air force, I think only removing them completely will work. As the MiGs didn't play any role over South Vietnam it's probably not a big issue.
  21. Yes, they'll be wiped out pretty fast. I did one test with a high supply and resupply level for the commies and the NVA was around Hue quickly.
  22. I guess that can be attributed to clever salesmen rather than on performance characteristics. In (West-)Germany at least the F-104 earned an awful reputation for falling out of the sky. But then, it was most likely not the worlds smartest idea to use a high altitude interceptor as a ground pounder.
  23. Excellent idea, makes them a bit more exposed. But please keep in mind that the camps are only around when they are targets. If you're scheduled for a strike Downtown, there will be usually no units around. I did test different supply levels and they do have an effect on the offensives. But I did run out of time before I found a very good setting. I had planned to create a much smaller campaign around Da Nang to focus on this aspect and see if it would be possible to get an attack going every few months.
  24. You can safely use anything you find that is originally from me in the SteelTiger campaign. The M-101 should not be included in the zip but be a separate download from here.
  25. No, use the stock VietnamSEA terrain, copy it to VietnamSEA-SteelTiger and modify according to the README. The airfields should not be affected. Can you try again from a clean install of WoV? On the skins, do campaigns on the regular map work?
