  1. Wer von euch spielt was?!

  2. WOV Patches

First install the service pack 05.15.06, then the patch 08.30.06. Enjoy!
  3. When reading the various INI files I stumbled over this question. How does one check which weapons are allowed on a particular station without going to the loadout screen but reading the INI files? In an aircrafts data.ini file lines like AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,ARM,EP,MER,RP,FT,CGR can be found. How are these values related to those defined in Weapondata.ini, especially WeaponDataType. How are the the entries of 'AllowedWeaponClass' in an aircrafts data.ini file and the WeaponDataType in Weapondata.ini related, if at all? I suspect there's another ini involved I'm unaware of ... Background for this question is that I'm currently writing a small tool to automatically check aircrafts for installation problems. So far only AttachementTypes and nations are checked.
  4. I am certainly guilty of this and like to load up my planes until they are hardly able to take off. Of course only to be rightfully trashed at the Nth pass over the target ... This is certainly an area worth checking. Even when a weapon in loadout.ini is principally possible, it should be checked if special sensors are available. The big question is of course how. A quick inspection in WEAPONSDATA.INI reveals that EODisplayFlags differs between weapons and can have any of these values: EODisplayFlags=0 EODisplayFlags=1 EODisplayFlags=4 EODisplayFlags=257 EODisplayFlags=258 EODisplayFlags=260 EODisplayFlags=513 EODisplayFlags=514 EODisplayFlags=516 EODisplayFlags=65793 EODisplayFlags=65794 EODisplayFlags=66052 EODisplayFlags=268435456 EODisplayFlags=268500992 EODisplayFlags=268501249 EODisplayFlags=268697600 EODisplayFlags=268763136 EODisplayFlags=268763393 EODisplayFlags=268763394 I guess this is somehow connected to an entry in the avionics.ini for the aircraft. Agreed, to get a good historical loadout this is absolutely needed. With the vast amounts of different ammunition types and subtypes available from the Weapons Pack I do rely on the excellent PDF guide that is included and on the Designation Website. The tools main purpose, however, is to detect installation problems and problems with aircrafts that have not been updated for recent versions of the Weapons Pack. It would be very nice if it could even do some suggestions on loadouts based on your knowledge base entries...
  5. The exact question goes like: In an aircraft's data.ini every WEAPON_STATION has a field AllowedWeaponClass. The aircraft's loadout.ini lists WeaponType for the different stations. To verify that the entries in loadout.ini are sensible, I'd like to see if they are of AllowedWeaponClass. But the assignment between Type and Class was not obvious to me in WEAPONDATA.INI.
  6. Thanks for the list, tank03! Here are some more updates WeaponDataType=0 Bomb WeaponDataType=1 Torpedo and Guided Missiles (homing?) WeaponDataType=2 Rocket Pod WeaponDataType=3 Gun Pod WeaponDataType=4 ECM, Navigation, Targeting WeaponDataType=5 Drop Tank WeaponDataType=6 Rack Type WDT=0 BOMB NUC LGB EOGB WDT=1 ARM SAHM IRM CGR EOGR WDT=2 RCKT TLR WDT=3 GP WDT=4 EP RCN LP WDT=5 FT WDT=6 MER TER CGR I guess there are a few left ;)
  7. Following up on my own question, in WEAPONSDATA.INI the following WeaponDataTypes are found: WeaponDataType=0 Bomb WeaponDataType=1 Torpedo? and Guided Missiles (homing?) WeaponDataType=2 Rocket Pod WeaponDataType=3 Gun Pod WeaponDataType=4 ECM, Navigation, Targeting WeaponDataType=5 Drop Tank WeaponDataType=6 Rack Type My best guess for the AllowedWeaponClass relation is: WDT=0 BOMB NUC LGB EOGB WDT=1 ARM SAHM IRM WDT=2 RCKT WDT=3 GP WDT=4 EP RCN TLR WDT=5 FT WDT=6 MER TER CGR Unknown to me is IFP, DLP, EOGR and probably a couple others. If the assignment between these has not been published elsewhere, I'll complete the list. Creating a test airplane and changing the AllowedWeaponClass should work.
  8. I'm playing once again the excellent Operation Tainted Cigar, this time as A-4 jockey assigned to the VA-94 Shrikes aboard the Enterprise. For the first few missions I got regular iron bombs, but this just changed. It is no November 28, 1963 in the campaign and I get a completely different set of loadout, that looks much more like the Weapons Pack than the standard weapons available. Is this intended or should I try a fresh install?
  9. I think I found the reason. The loadouts in the campaign (cuba_data.ini) only provide a limited selection of weapons. Once the first supply arrives, more models available from the weapondata.ini arrive. Here's the inital loadout for the VA-94: Supply[001].WeaponType=Mk81 Supply[001].Quantity=180 Supply[002].WeaponType=Mk82 Supply[002].Quantity=120 Supply[003].WeaponType=Mk83 Supply[003].Quantity=40 Supply[004].WeaponType=LAU-3A Supply[004].Quantity=80 Supply[005].WeaponType=LAU-10 Supply[005].Quantity=40 Supply[006].WeaponType=Tank300_A4 Supply[006].Quantity=8
  10. I think there's none. Loading the #3 and #4 aircraft for SEAD and sending them in either over the target or en route seems to work best. Ah, and remove their ammo to 0, otherwise they'll get most likely shredded when strafing.
  11. I enjoy the strike role quite a lot, not only in the Wings series but in other flight sims I played before as well. If I have the time, one of my favorites is to play a complete strike from take-off to landing. While approaching the target I enjoy watching the airbattle unfold and read a forum post or three :)
  12. Please take a look at the Knowledgebase for issue 2). I believe you need to change PanScale in viewlist.ini in the flight folder, but I might be wrong.
  13. Check the README after d/l, I think you need to d/l the cockpit from a different place. Enjoy
  14. If you need a tester or some ideas for scenarios, contact me :) I'm involved in two other Arab/Israel War projects, so a third one won't hurt much :)
  15. This happens to me at times as well. A fix seems to be to fly over waypoint one again (usually at 2/3 of the end of the runway). You can also find the current waypoint by the navigation aids in your cockpit and from the in-flight map.
  16. I've noticed that and wondered how much effort it would be to make such a mod. Unfortunately I've not been able to track it down in SF Object mods. Do you have any further info on the naming? I looked for 'end year' and was unsuccessful.
  17. The volume in the sim does not allow fine tuning of sounds, the engine and everything is fine. When you open the AirExplosion.wav with a soundeditor that shows the amplitude you see that it clips, e.g. it's too loud at times. Probably that's simulating the blown eardrums you'd certainly face when listening to it from the simulated distance to the explosion ;)
  18. Is there any way to lower the volumes of all sounds when in the outside view? For me 'AirExplosion.wav' is way to loud and besides amplifying it with audacity I wonder if there's another way to lower the volume of all outside sounds. Excellent work, the campaign is a blast :)
  19. It's The Yom Kippur War by Abraham Rabinovich. A very detailed account of the War and the road that led to it. If you take a look on the Wikipedia page on the Ramadan War you'll find it in the bibliography list. The book deals with the war from the perspective of commanders involved and describes the battles fought from the Israeli side. By changing from HQ to Front to Division to Brigade and even lower level the book presents a lot of details without loosing sight of the overall situation. I find it to be a good read and recommend it, if you have any interest in that area and war. Does anyone know a link to or can provide an OOB for the Egyptian and Israeli Air Forces at that time?
  20. I never tried this, but maybe adding an extra sight out of the window will make aiming easier. It would have no crosshairs or alike, but at least you get a view from the airplanes side. Now if there would be a way to add a graphic to the view with the crosshairs and other aiming related information, it would be really great. Take a look for the recon mods that can be used to simulate cameras.
  21. The A-6E TRAM from the download sections has a white round gauge in the cockpit. I added the file A-6A_rwr.bmp to the cockpit directory and it's black again. Unfortunately the RWR does not seem to work, though.
  22. Thanks, here at amazon.ca it seems to be sold out and at .com it sells for 14 USD. But first I need to finish a book on the Ramadan Wars. Don't worry about your English, I guess a fair number of combatace users are non-native speakers.
  23. Here are my recommendations : o Clashes by Marshall Mitchell on air to air combat over NV o Rolling Thunder by Ed Rasimus, a bio covering one Tour o Palace Cobra by Ed Rasimus on his second Tour o Over The Beach, covering a USN squadron o On Yankee Station, still on my wishlist o Chickenhawk, written by a helo pilot If you like bio style narratives get RollingThunder and Chickenhawk.
  24. The button besides a topics title that transfers to the last post in a thread is not working for me at all times. It seems to me that when images are displayed in the postings, it will transfer me to the wrong location in the thread. I use FireFox 2 on Ubuntu Edgy 6.10, Fedora Core 6 and Windows XP.
