  1. I actually have that model. Of course, it doesn't look as good as those pics. Hard to do without a proper airbrush. Can't wait to fly the thing. I've always liked attack aircraft.
  2. Best Sim A.I in your opinion

I can do it, but it always ends with the F-16 being downed by a lucky snap-shot.
  3. For those who are eagerly awaiting Il-2 FB (P-51 pic)

Gotcha. I do that frequently, but I guess not enough.
  4. For those who are eagerly awaiting Il-2 FB (P-51 pic)

Where'd you get this shot? I thought I'd seen all the FB screenies.
  5. Best Sim A.I in your opinion

Flanker 2.5 deserves mention as having the hardest dogfighting of any sim I've played. Its is damn impossible to take an F-16 in a guns only dogfight, and an F-15 is almost as hard.
  6. That reminds me, how effective are the M-20s? Do you still have to hit the tank dead on?
  7. The State of Flight Sims today?

Oh, thing about LB3. HELO SIMS NEED REALISTIC TREES!!! All that stupid surface clutter? Yeah, its necassary. I don't think EECH cuts it, in this respect. To me, a helo sim needs to have lots of 'stuff'. Trees, minor buildings, rocks, just stuff. All those things a helo can hide behind, basically. I think we finally have the PC horsepower needed, too.
  8. The State of Flight Sims today?

Man, LB3? I would cream myself (pardon the expression). Seriously though, I think the major problem has just been the lack of developers interested in simulations. A sim is definately not an easy thing to code, especially if you want to make something worthy of sim-nards like us. I think Ubi-Soft might be breaking the mold in that respect, and hopefully it can take the place (heaven forbid, surpass) of Jane's. What I've always wanted to see is a developer come out with an excellent core simulation, and then have smaller companies provide the aircraft. What have Oleg and the LO-MAC team always said when somebody asked for another plane? "It takes a lot of effort to accurately code the flight model, systems, 3D-model, and cockpits of an aircraft." Think about it, one sim, but lots of companies providing top notch aircraft for it. Eh, its my personnal dream. I'd be perfectly happy to see them keep an engine like Il-2's or Flanker 2.5's around, and just pump all the effort into new campaigns, new high quality aircraft, etc...
  9. What view were you using for the MiG? If it was the target to player view, then the MiG would be flying away. Rogue, I've been hit by a MiG-21's Atolls more than once. They definately use 'em. You just have to remember, the Atoll is worse than an AIM-9B, so its pretty easy to spoof it. Even easy jinking can put you out of the launch parameters, so I don't think I need to mention what heavy dogfighting will do, :D.
  10. Dihedral effect on the F-104 I can understand. On the A-1 though? That has positive dihedral, which would keep it from rolling.
  11. Best Sim A.I in your opinion

Man, Operation Flashpoint rox. Its funny, no one says anything about the AI in F-15 or F/A-18. They had pretty good wingmen AI, but I never had any problems wasting the OPFOR. I guess thats realistic though, :). Just cuz the Iranians have F-14 doesn't mean they know how to use them.
  12. The problems might just be related to the flight models. All of the lighter aircraft have a bad tendency to roll at high AOA, so the rudder could just be another thing that sets it off. Have you tried using combined rudder and ailerons? Like, rudder to the right, ailerons to the left to counteract the roll?
  13. HOLY CRAP!!! LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

Now, if only they'd redo the game... and add in all the surface and air warfare too.
  14. And a pair of SUU23's would fit great under the top wings
  15. http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...TML/001568.html My lord, this game ROCKS. If the flight models and avionics are on par with the graphics, SCREW the AF Academy. I am just going to sit at home ALL DAY LONG.
  16. Hahaha, Pasko, its certainly a surprise. As to rotating the gunsight... I think you're gonna have to learn how to make cockpits, and manually design a nice left sight.
  17. CFS3 rabble

Yeah, Fast Eagle's not gonna recieve much support from me! Il-2 is the absolute top of the line WWII sim, and currently, it might be the best sim out period. I am ticking off the days till Forgotten Battles. That dynamic campaign is going to take Il-2 through the roof. I've already got my absentee notes for school written out. "Mrs. Hoover, our son Sam was unable to come to school the last week because, of... um... amebic dyssentary, yeah, thats it."
  18. Who flies X-Plane?

Definately use Plane-Maker! Thats what sold me on the sim. Its great not to be limited in the number of aircraft available. I can't wait for the combat version to be released either, but frankly I think it will be a major disappointment. Its just too hard for one man to make a realistic military flight simulation, or at least on that can compete with other sims out at the moment.
  19. 1.4 Athlon 512 PC-2100 DDR Radeon 8500 SB X-Gamer 5.1 I installed DX9 beta, vast improvements. Went to DX9 full, and it seemed like something was lost in the translation. Still better than 8 though.
  20. And I hope they can do it quick. I sent an email to the original designer, so hopefully he can help.
  21. Chief, those inflight deployement problems were do to the fact that the bomb was ejected directly into the turbulence caused by the engines. The bomb would ride back there in the jetwash, and it was impossible to predict when it would 'decide' to fall out of it. They were afraid the bomb could potentially fly back into the aircraft, or do something else equally damaging, not to mention that you completely lost any accuracy you might have had. Not too much of a problem with a nuke, but with normal weapons, thats quite a factor. I hate to basically advertise for another sim here, but if you would really like to design a new Vigilante with an updated layout, and actually see how it would fly, try X-Plane, www.x-plane.com. It actually mathematically derives the flight model, meaning the aircraft will fly in the sim just like it would in the real world.
  22. My God. Don't ever do that in real life. The recoil from the pods is like twice that of the engine thrust, and the shear weight of the pods will keep you from flying long.
  23. OK, heres the address: D:Strike FightersObjectsAircraftA-1H All the files from the application are straight in there, including the paintscheme folder. I just can't find any place to choose the plane in SF.
  24. Its now hosted here. Check the front page. I can't get it to work either, Chief. I installed all the files from the *.exe into a new 'A-1h' folder in my objects/aircraft folder just like the website said to, but nowhere in SF can I find a menu that lists it as flyable. Disappointing, this is one of the aircraft I wanted to fly the most.
