  1. Those are some nice skins and cockpits. I know they're just repainted stcok 'pits, but they give the AI planes a whole new feel.
  2. Boy, thats kind of a blow, huh? Its a bit harder to change the AI than to change the thrust settings. Well, maybe we can just use the realistic MiG-17 for MP. Not that anybody would really want to use it now.
  3. Just wanted to make sure we didn't change the wrong aircraft, or make it unrealistic without knowing it.
  4. I say any change in the game to make it more realistic is a change for the better. So long as you change all the ohter aircraft too. It could be that ALL of the aircraft have ramped up thrust values, including the F-4.
  5. The Sum of All Fears should really be read. The book is much better than the movie. Best Tom Clancy Novel; Red Storm Rising. Man, I can't WAIT to see that as a sim.[/u]
  6. Well, can't you turn set the AGL warning to a lower number?
  7. Did you copy the right avionics lines in the *.ini file? That could be why there is no radar.
  8. I don't know if anybody has done this, or posted how to do so, but it is very easy to make the AI planes included with Strike Fighters flyable. 1. Go to the ObjectsAircraft directory 2. Copy the cockpit folder and loading screen bitmap of the aircraft of your choice into the folder of the AI aircraft 3. Open the *.ini file in each folder, and copy the data at the top from the original file to the AI aircraft's file. The data should look like this: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=A-4E Skyhawk AircraftDataFile=A-4E_data.ini CockpitDataFile=A-4E_cockpit.ini * HangarScreen=A-4E_hangar.bmp * LoadoutImage=A-4E_loadout.bmp * LoadoutFile=A-4E_loadout.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll * AvionicsDataFilename=A-4E_avionics.ini * The lines marked with the * at the end are what normally needs to be copied to the AI aircraft. Thats it, just start up a single mission and enjoy a MiG-17. The loadout screen will look like the loadout screen of whatever aircraft you copied from, but all of the weapons and skins will be for the new aircaft. Hope you guys enjoy this.
  9. Its just a reference to the gauges and type of radar, so if you give a MiG-21 the F-104 cockpit, it will only be able to 'see' at 20 and 40 miles ranges. Since I used an A-4 cockpit for the other MiG's, they have A2G radar.
  10. I can't wait for some SEAD missions. Maybe someone can mod the F-4E into a F-4G?
  11. Well, PC, at very least you can model the radar screen, and let us hit the button :D.
  12. Its pretty easy to make ANY of the AI aircraft flyable. I outlined the process in the Mods Forum. Albeit, I don't include special loadout screens :), but its pretty easy to do.
  13. The loading screens aren't difficult to change at all, seeing as how they are only a simple bitmap. Adding a new cockpit, however, is almost as hard as adding a whole new plane. That, I certainly cannot do.
  14. Didn't one of the squadrons post a TCP/IP matchmaker for SF? I'll have to agree with TK that I'd rather see other things fixed or added first, and just use HyperLobby or whatever till then.
  15. Wow! Thats exactly the answer I had hoped for! I can't wait for a Vietnam terrain set, and then I can recreate Flight of the Intruder to my heart's content.
  16. How come? Its not like they HAVE to model the RIO's seat, or have a nice swiveling head 3D-Model. I mean, sure, it would be nice to see something like in EECH (Which had the best cockpits I've ever, EVER, seen), but not essential.
  17. Aggie, one way to be absolutely sure that you're radar is locked on, that you have a working Sparrow, and that you are definately withing the minimum range requirement is if you see a gigantic X in the radar screen.
  18. f100

I don't know, I've been able to score some excellent kills against even MiG 21s. You just have to turn slowly, and keep up your speed. Try performing shallow high yo's, and never performing a break turn. Against a MiG-17, you will rarely be able to get onto it's tail unless you manage to bleed all the speed from your enemy. Expect rather to be running in it some high closure rate snap-shots.
  19. Hahaha, thats pretty good. I've always thought trying of sumthin really cheap. Remember how in Jane's F-15, you respawned on the runway? We'll, if your dogfightin, just sit and idle till your opponent goes dry on fuel, then pick him off. Eh, I thought it'd be cool.
  20. Man, that would be nice. Imagine, start the war froma WWII carrier, work up to a Korean War era carrier, and finish up with a modern nuke. Talk about complimenting the F-8 and A-5 coming out!
  21. Well, doesn't it say in the manual that the AIM-9 must be launched at or under 2 G's?
  22. 500 knots, huh? At what AGL are you rolling in at? Thats a pretty high speed, at least for the current A-4. But, it may be that I use the wrong tactics in A2G. To much time in Il-2, I guess.
  23. Haha, good point Dagger, and a good lesson. But, one thing I have found to be even more important? Know your enemy, and what HE can do. Then, you can do what he cannot. Or at very least, run away.
