They are among Japan's most numerous and modern general-purpose escorts, and the first to use Combined gas or gas (COGOG) propulsion. The Hatsuyuki class features well-rounded armament including a 76mm gun, two Phalanx CIWS, an 8-cell Sea Sparrow launcher, two 4-canister SSM launchers, ASROC launcher, and ASW torpedoes. A full names list and authentic decals are included. The model features a helicopter deck and a few other surprises.
