typo upyr 0 Posted February 11, 2006 http://simhq.com/_air3/air_113a.html I read this and for the most part I would have to say I would disagree with what he is saying. I believe that the way to sell a chopper sim would be to combine it with a tank sim. Though Black shark looks like it will be awsome.
+Fates 63 Posted February 12, 2006 There will eventually be a game that makes everyone happy. I'm a firm believer that multiplayer sells and from the recent cash flow of MMO games, I think that's a true statement. However, with games like SFP1 and WOV and others, where simulation and modding are the key factors in their production, this game takes on more of an enthusiast role. However, there are a damn lot of enthusiast for WOV as I see it. I see Best Buy in Indy go thru 2-3 copies a week. Heli sims are difficult to sell. They target an even smaller crowd. I wouldn't say that selling it with tanks would be better, ............ I would say that selling it with a multiplayer where a TANK enthusiast can play against a TacSim enthusiast would be the best. Everyone is looking for that perfect sim, but to be as perfect as possible, it must be against human opponents. MMOFPS as it's been coined. He mentions OFP and I think everyone needs to be aware of the new BIS game soon to be released....... Armed Assault. This is a hash of the OFP but it is considerable well done. It approaches the perfect sim by giving everyone a chance to play their game be it tank, ground troops, heli, fighter jets, etc.... It sells itself becuase it does put the heli against the tank and the Bradly and Anti-Aircraft vehicles and ground troops against the heli.... What more could a heli sim driver ask for? Pure simulation as it's meant to be. I'm sure people will bitch about it's flight models too....but everyones a critic. Cheers!~ Fates

Guest IndioBlack Posted May 19, 2007 Perhaps I should just recommend Novalogic's JointOps, if you want to fly Helos against Tanks. It's basically a footsoldier game, but there's plenty of armour to drive, some attack boats to cruise and a few Helos to fly. You can fly a Blackhawk with your friends as gunners, or drive a tank with your friends manning the machine gun and cannon. It has multiplayer and a mission builder, there are tons of missions to download, and the maps can be endless. Missions can be co-operative against the AI, or Team Deathmatches, Team King of the Hill, Search and Destroy etc. The controls are very easy, so it won't please Hard-core Simulation types too much, but Sim-Lite fans should enjoy it. Basically, you set the direction of flight with your mouse, and use the keyboard to roll, yaw and ascend. There are three throttle settings. You can use a joystick, but the mouse is better, since you use that for walking around once you've landed. I play regularly on LAN with a team of friends, and the whole thing is pretty darned exciting. There are not many games where you can swoop down a valley in a Blackhawk, whilst your team-mates machine-gun AI soldiers hiding in the tree-line. Even just flying a transport Helo into a dangerous LZ and disembarking your team-mates gives me a buzz. When we first started, there was a mission where you had to assault some island forts, and I busied myself flying the team to the beach-head and then returning to base to collect the respawns who had been killed. I heard one of the guys ask "Doesn't Indio want to bring a gun and join us." And someone replied, "Nah, I think he just likes flying around." Too darn true ! JediMaster 451 Posted May 21, 2007 I'm playing ArmA regularly and it's still getting better with patches and stuff. JO's problem is it's dead as far as NL is concerned. I really don't know WHAT happened there. They released that expansion less than 4 months after the original game...then NOTHING.
