Multiplayer Loadouts

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

I play WOV at lans against some of my friends and we have a blast but are growing tired of the coop weapons loadouts imposed on us automatically.

Is there any way that we can change the loadouts for coop missions so that we can be using rockets and so on instead of just dumb bombs.

Please dont get me wrong. This is in no way connected to a desire to cheat and give myself ÜberWeapons in an MP game but a lot of my friends are not experianced simmers and cant hit anything with 9B's and dumb iron bombs. The point and click interface of rockets (oversimplification i know) and lethality of better winders would make a refreshing change for them and keep them playing it until they get good enough to take things out with less sophisticated weapons.

We all have the latest weapons pack so it is a real shame not to use them :)

If this is at all possible then I expect it will be from looking at the files a get the text editor out job and that is fine but I do need to know what to change. If it isnt possible then I guess thats tough and I can imagine why it wouldnt be (aim 9b vs aim 9m in a dogfight wouldnt be very fair :) ) but if it is then please tell me if you know.

WOV is the only FS game I can get people to play at lans because they cant be arsed to learn LOMAC so unless I can edit things somehow I am bang out of luck.

Also if it can be changed for dogfight then that would also be great, my mate loves the F5 (personally I like the good old F4) but he is bored because he can never hit me with the 9B's. I know it isnt that accurate but I would love to give him some 9H's just to even the score a bit. Personally I go guns guns guns all the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I promise not to abuse any information given to me. Like I said I just want to get some more people away from the likes of WOW and UT2K4 and into the cockpit.

Cheers

Fred

Ok I am kind of getting there.

I have found the loadout config file for the F5 and sucessfully managed to change the 9B's to 9J's. Now the question is how do you go about changing it to somthing else??

I wanted to as an experiment change the 9B's to AIM-4G's. This does not work. I managed to change it to AIM-7E's but not to the 4'Gs or any other missile that is not in the game to begine with.

What else to I need to edit to accomodate different weapons loadouts?

Cheers

I wrote about a similar issue in a topic "MP issues" I think reading that would help. When changing weapon loadouts you have to keep in mind that the pylons have specifications that must be followed, namely load limit, allowed weapon class and attachment type. If the AIM-4G is outside any one of these parameters, it won't work (and there are a few others, like weapon diameter, etc.) Another thing to worry about is date of use. If you're flying a mission in the 1980's, I don't think the AIM-4 is available for use.

A question on the side: you say that you can't use the weapons pack weapons in MP; can you use them in single player? Also, does everyone have the same loadout data for their installs? When I tested out using 3rd party planes on LAN, we all synchronized our data to have the same planes, effects, dates, loadouts, weapons, etc. so it went off without a hitch; we were using F-14's with AIM-54's, F-18's with the -120's and got to test out the A-10 too.

Keep updating with the progress!

Hey

Thanks for the response.

I have got it all working now having determined what in the text files does what so thats cool. was a bit of a slog but worth it to have some variation on the mp missions and dogfights :)

I love it when developers leave their games so open to customisation.

Lots of stuff to play with now.

Cheers again
