Guest zerocinco Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 (edited) DO NOT JUST LOAD THIS THING UP. IT WILL WIPE OUT A LOT OF YOUR FAVORITE MODS. Puts that irritating radar screen back on with the HUGE lettering. Hi-res cockpit gone. Betcha the lights are all gone, too. Mission Editor sees what's in the Ground Data folder, I think. But infantry LOD's are gone And where are the weapons? About 200 hours of work down the tubes. No make that 400. ALL my mods are gone. Cool clouds. Somewhat like the ones I flew around in my real airplane this afternoon. READ THE ATTACHED 'READ ME' FILE FIRST Let me be the first to inform you to watch out. Seems like someone else could have, though. Edited May 17, 2006 by zerocinco Quote
+Dave Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Its got a whole new format for groundobjects. You mods are not gone you jut have to reformat them to the hew way. No more is a groundobjectdata.ini, now you can install just like aircraft. Open up ithe main.ini of whatever groundobject you want added. Add these lines at the top....(xxxxx being the name of the object) [GroundObjectData] ObjectFullName=xxxxxx ObjectDataFile=xxxxxx_data.ini So for example [GroundObjectData] ObjectFullName=FROG-3 ObjectDataFile=FROG-3_data.ini Hit save and you are set. So now you groundobject folder will be free of extra data.inis in the main groundobject folder. Everything will be nice and neat in it own folder. Quote

+Fubar512 Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Zercinco, All the old hands have known that you need to backup before installing any new patches. This has been a fact of life with SF since the beggining. Sorry that you had to learn the hard way, but that's the breaks. Quote
+Paladrian Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Doesn't it create a backup folder like the previous patch? Quote
Guest zerocinco Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 (edited) I have backups. Having written part of dBase II eons ago, I am a rather old hand. It is the changes that caught me unaware. Having about 65 missions in the can that don't work is something that I would have loved to have avoided. Not a hard thing to do either. Any idea where the Pilot skins went? How do you enter new weapons? Guns? Bullets? The weapon and gun editors are sitting alone in a folder. Where can I get a ZU-23? You know, the guns they actually used? Is that just a Bofors re-fiddled? Those and Diego's pilots, I did not back up. I thought they were WOV native. Edited May 17, 2006 by zerocinco Quote
+FOTF Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 no reason to get snippy boys. SP4 represents some huge changes, with those changes one cannot expect some difficulty. Quote
