csb Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Just some Q's to understand SAM Launchers and Radar. Is a SAM network built AND COMMUNICATING just because a Radar is surrounded by some launchers? Do all SAMs work with any radar? What is max distance for placement of launchers from radar? What is max number of launchers per radar? In the Israel_targets.ini (as an example), the author has listed the sam's in a general manner ie; Target[001].Type=SAMRadar Target[002].Type=SAMLauncher Does this mean that game chooses what models the actual units will be? It seems to randomly allocate(with consideration of year availability) SAM radar's and launchers; so I have single, double, triple & quad launchers around a single radar. This is all ok, I just want to understand this. I am adjusting the MiddleEastWars campaign pack, by Johan217 and need to decrease the number of SAMs. So I will delete some and some will be replaced with AA. His YomKippur campaign is fantastic. +Fubar512 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 As long as the SAM sites are defined on the terrain map and target_types.ini, the game engine will place any suitable (for that nation and period) "static_sam" , "sam_radar", and "ew_radar" unit on those coordinates. By defining a "networktype" entry in the unit's data.ini, you can ensure that the individual units are matched by type. For example, both the StraightFlush and its attendant SA-6 SAM launchers should all have "NetworkType = SA-6" under the "DetectSystem" section of their data.ini files. As far as having too many SAMs, just set the enemy air defenses to "normal", instead of 'heavy" If you're having issues with the SA-3 series, rest easy. Crusader and I are working on a fix that prevents them from salvoing all their missiles at once. Quote
csb Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 No probs with any SAMs just reducing them. Don't wnat to change airdefences to normal, cause I still want all the AA. I said that the Yom Kippur is great but there are many typo's that have left a/c without ordinance and other stuff, including the campaign.ini. Actually, if you read this Johan, you can pm me or start a thread. I have had to spend many hours fixing errors. A fully enjoyable campaign. My #1. Quote
