MIG-29OVT Eaglekiller V1.3

MIG-29OVT Eaglekiller V1.3

Let me just say that I take no credit whatsoever for this mod. All I did was mess around with wpnssgt's Mig-29A. I managed to get thrust vectoring and inproved handling. I also modernized it to the OVT standard. This is the newest MIG-29 to date. Included is a repaint of the F-15C cockpit by Kesselbrut. I also created a Russian demonstration skin for the MIG-29. I hope this adds a worthy advisary to your arsenal.

Thanks for all your work updating the MiG-29, especially the F-15C cockpit repaint!

After playing with the v1.1, I noticed the rear horizontal tail surfaces developed rapid fluttering at full afterburner when viewed from the F6 chase view. I went into the data.ini with the intent of adjusting the pitch and yaw damper values to eliminate the flutter but noticed the MaxSpeedSL=694.444 value. All the speed values in SFP1 are in meters per second. 694.444 meters per second = 1,533 miles per hour! Wow, this bird has warp drive!!!!

The best data I could google was 805 mph at sealevel for the MiG-29M, or another site that stated Mach 1.225 at sealevel. I just downloaded version 1.3 to see if the MaxSpeedSL value had been adjusted, but it is still at 694.444. On my data.ini I used the Mach 1.225 value, which converted to 416.868 meters per second.

Thanks, you are right. I must have messed up the conversion. I will have to fix that in the next version. The max speed should be about MACH 2.35 at SL. Did you do any good with the damper values. My intent was to simulate fly by wire controls, which are more sensitive. Let me know if you think I should make any other changes?

Scrapper,

It seems the ThustVectoring works for pitch down only...

This is a game engine limitation ;)

No offense, but even no aircraft ever built can attain Mach 2.35 at sea level. The record at 300 meters (about 900 feet) was held by an F-4 Phantom (named "Sageburner") for over 16 years, from 1961 until 1977. And that was 902 MPH, or 785 KIAS (1,452 kph).

As incredible as it may seem, the current record is a scant 85 knots faster.

Since the default thrust angle is 4 deg down, they will actually vector up 4 deg. I cannot find any way to fix this. If anybody has a suggestion, please let me know.
