Vietnam 1984:

The Vietnam War ended in a stalemate a decade ago. North Vietnam has taken the opportunity, of the prolonged cease fire, to build up its ground and air forces.

The Soviet Union has recently taken an active role in mobilizing fighter regiments for the VPAF and the potential of the Soviet union adding actual ground troops to the area is now a reality.

The uneasy temporary peace comes to an end. The Reagan administration Withdraws the United States from the decade long diplomatic process. On December 18th 1984 the coalition starts a 2 week air offensive against North Vietnamese targets.

To install the mod simply place the folders that are inside the zip file in your WOV directory and say yes to overwrite the files.

Has anyone succeeded in getting this campaign running with the SP051506 and patch 083006? After using the correct weaponseditor the loadout seems fine, but there are no ground defenses but SAM launchers - which never shoot without their radars. The air war looks good, though.

I updated 'EndYear' in options ini from 73 to 93. In single missions set in 73 I get ground defenses, but not in 84.

I found that moving the StartDate to 1979 will enable the ground defenses again. Is there any easy way to postpone the retirement of the WoV ground defenses to 1985?

Change to Campaigns\Vietnam 1984\WOVCAMPV1_DATA.INI:

[CampaignData]
;StartDate=12/18/1984
StartDate=12/18/1979
StartDateDeviation=0
ForceWithInitiative=1
...

@TeTeT:

Lack of ground defence is caused by equipment (SAM, AAA) having a default end year of 1980. There is a objects mod that changes the end date for the stock ground units to after 1980. Search for that and install it.

I've noticed that and wondered how much effort it would be to make such a mod. Unfortunately I've not been able to track it down in SF Object mods. Do you have any further info on the naming? I looked for 'end year' and was unsuccessful.

Hi gents.

I've installed the mod as per the directions, and then gone in and copied each of the objects into my objects folder in the WOV install.

However, I'm not showing any weapons in the loadout screen.

Can anyone provide some advice on fixing this? I've tried copying the objects and weapons folders into the WOV install, and I've patched up with the SP and other patch. I used the Vietnam 1984 quick update as well.

Sorry, this is my first time modding WOV and I'm having a difficult time figuring out what is wrong.

Disregard.

It took me a while, but I realized I didn't install the weapons pack between the 1984 install and the upgrade version.
