Probably been discussed before, but can anyone tell me how to fire Sparrows?........thanks.

They only fire if you get a radar lock on the target plane as in real life.

Taking an F4 for example in the 60's in Normal/Hard level -

Set radar to search mode using "Page Up"

Set the range using "Page Down"

When you see a blob or blobs on the screen select one using "Home" key

Lock one with the "Insert" key

When its in range <20 miles - you should get a cue - fire the missile.

Once fired you need to maintain radar lock on the target till / if the missile hits otherwise the missile will lose target.

Note

Early Sparrows are bad and often blow up anyway as the real things were!

If the target is flying away from you the launch range needs to be <10 miles

When using the radar those blobs could be freindly or enemy!

Keep the target above you so the radar doesnt get confused by ground clutter

At simhq.com there is a full article on AA delivery to get the full picture - they are easy to use after a while - use the search facilities here and at simhq - everything you need to know has already been said
