Framerate Issues

Having some serious FPS issues with this sim. My graphics setting are all on 'high' , horizon set at 'normal' , lensflare and shadows 'off '. With these settings , on the runway , I'm getting 8-9 fps with the cockpit and 10-11 without the cockpit . By comparison, both WOV and WOE are at high 30's with cockpit and high 40's without, using the same graphics options.

Any help or tips would appreciated.

Have you tried the modification of flightengine.ini as described in the knowledgebase? Did wonders for me.

Try turning down the options? What works for one game more than likely won't work for another.

FE uses higher poly models etc..

The Horizon setting seems to be the culprit . I changed the setting to ‘near ‘ and left all other settings at ‘high ‘. I am now running mid 20’s fps with cockpit at medium ,and mid 30’s without cockpit.

John, my system is almost the equivalent of yours. I am using an AMD 64 3200 ( I think), which is equivalent to a Pentium 4 2.35, 1 gig ram, but a 6800 GT as opposed to a 6600 GT.

I have everything set to maximum, including 32 sound channels, but with horizon set to near.

This gives me an off-the-scale fps at 1000ft without the cockpit on. If I fly low over a town, or where it's busy, I only drop to around 45. Putting the cockpit on will drop it to around 30.

Comparing it to the super-patched SF/WOV I believe this Sim is faster.
