+SayethWhaaaa Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 So i had this idea for modding a gun that, if it worked, would look as though one long and continuous burst was coming from the gun (giving the effect of somekind of bent laser)... ...instead, all I got was whiplash! (Note: Look at the airspeed indicator ) (best way to see the effect is if you save the photos and use the slideshow button in picture viewer) Somehow I was able to get it under control but I brushed the trigger again: Just to be a smart arse, I wanted to see what would happen if I pointed the nose down and fired... I levelled out somewhere around the 26000m (I guess its around 80600ft) mark. And what did I learn from this? My zero button sticks... here's the gundata entry if anyone wants to see what happens. *WARNING* Has a bit of a kick [GunDataXXX] TypeName=ZZ20MM_M61A1 FullName=Tester Caliber=20.000000 ROF=500000.000000 MuzzleVel=1000000.000000 AmmoWt=0.101000 WarheadWt=0.010100 Reliability=100.000000 Accuracy=100.000000 AddLight=TRUE MaxLightRange=1000.000000 FireColor=0.500000,0.450000,0.320000 GunFireEffect=20mmFireEffect GunFireSound=Vulcan EffectClassName=20mmEffects EffectTime=0.100000 TracerTexture=Tracer.tga TracerSize=1.000000 TracerDistFactor=0.002000 TracerLength=3.000000 MaxVisibleDist=4000.000000 MaxStreakVisibleDist=1000.000000 TimeFuzed=FALSE Quote
+foxmonter Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 What if you enlarge the tracer..? and less heavy the bullet?... Quote
Bluzman Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 That is TOOOOOOOOO funny! I like the idea for the gun effect - make it red to look like a laser(High energy particle beam) I once used this concept in MS flight sim used bullets of red light at high frequency to make a laser beam then put it on the bottom of my helicopter and pointed straight down the laser beam pinpointed my huver location when close to ground keep on truckin Bluzman Quote
+SayethWhaaaa Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 What if you enlarge the tracer..? and less heavy the bullet?... There's a spot in GE where you can change the length of the tracer, I think. I'm a bit shagged now, but I'll have a looksee tomorrow. When I was playing around with the idea of turning a Hunter into a dedicated tank hunter, I remember doing the same for one of it's cannon to give the impression of a larger caliber round. Same principle should apply here. It looked good if you moved in a straight line and fired, but if you turned or tracked a target, you could see the individual pulses. Still, it'd be good to see if it could be done. Quote
raidenandsolid Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 lol you say that thing had a massive kick? what about skinning some ROCKET BOOSTERS.. and make them fire in reverse so you the kick throws you forward not backward!!!! I can only imagine HOW crazy that would be.. but of course if the game limits speed to something pretty slow then thats no fun.. but It would be pretty awesome to try!!! Quote
+foxmonter Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 OK, who can make a laser beam? ... for 2000 billetes... JAJA Quote
raidenandsolid Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) I tried what you put up Say... and all I can say is... LOL... its like teleporting from one location to another in an instant... im flying level at 10000 over water.. and then one click later and I am nowhere near the water doin 7000... Definitely need to turn that into some sort of ROCKET BOOSTER.. !!! what do I need to do to give it a lot more ammo for more than 1 shot? Edited January 30, 2007 by raidenandsolid Quote
+comrpnt Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Cool pictures SayWhat?! Might give it a try :-) why i can open the canopy???????????????/ Hi Sparker, to open the canopy, for example in an F-4E, add the following entry to the end of the [Fuselage] section in the F-4E_data.ini file... [Fuselage] ... SystemName[018]=Canopy Where [018] needs to be the next number in sequence for your version of the aircraft data file. Then, also add the following section later in the F-4E_data.ini file... [Canopy] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED Setting[1].Angle=30.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=15.0 Setting[1].RetractValue=10.0 MaxDeflection=30.0 MinDeflection=0.0 ControlRate=2.0 AnimationID=3 That should do it. The canopy will pop open below 30kts and close above 30kts to an angle of 30 degrees from horizontal. Cheers, regards, Paul T. (comrpnt) Quote

Definitely need to turn that into some sort of ROCKET BOOSTER.. !!! what do I need to do to give it a lot more ammo for more than 1 shot? Originally, I tried giving the gatt about 60000 rounds of ammo, but it would CTD when I tried to select the aircraft. I expect 5000-9000 rounds (or somewhere near that figure) should be possible as I've got some gunpods working with about 3k or thereabouts. To change the ammo quota, go into your aircraft data.ini (I used the F-4EJ in this instance) // Internal Guns --------------------------------------------------------- [internalGun] SystemType=FIXED_GUN GunTypeName=ZZ20MM_M61A1 <<-----Edit this for the gun type InputName=FIRE_PRIMARY_GUN MuzzlePosition=0.0,10.20,-1.15 LightPosition=0.0,10.30,-1.15 AimAngles=0.0,-2.0,0.0 MaxAmmo=6390 <<--------------Edit this for ammount of ammo EjectShells=TRUE MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= One big problem I've noticed is that flying at excessive speeds causes your aircraft to burn then explode. Again, there should be a way to alter this in the aircraft data.ini, but I'll have to have a look to see what I can find. I remember altering the F/A-37 to help it fly just a bit faster, although I could only accellerate it to about Mach 1.5 (even though it could cruise at about Mach3.1!) Quote
raidenandsolid Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 (edited) I'm guessing that can happen with any aircaft? but is it possible for the aircraft to burn up even if it is a weapon that is propulsing it at that kind of speed? wouldn't it be because the temp gets to hot from the AB being on for so long at full blast? In that case how did I not blow up doing 7000knts in the reverse direction? is it because I was going reverse? oh and I just set the ammo to 10000 and worked fine for me. raidenandsolid Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 oh I was using the F-16 ADF mod.. and even though the RPM was like i believe 50000 I still got like 3 or 4 shots off.. Quote
