Gr.Viper Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) Amazing... Are you going to make them all flyable with some universal HUD? Well my wishlist is always SPAD XII Ca. 37mm - nothing can beat that gun Edited March 3, 2007 by Gr.Viper Quote
kendo353 Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 Hi Gr.Viper, Are you going to make them all flyable with some universal HUD? thats how they're working now. i'm aiming to have a different hud for each nation in external views, so that i can get the game up and running. cockpit views will be different for each plane, naturally (because you will be sat in the plane model). but i don't want to get sucked into making uber realistic cockpits for the next 8 years. i'm trying to find the middle ground between fun/realism. Well my wishlist is always SPAD XII Ca. sounds like a nightmare... The 37 mm cannon was not suited for pilots that were not exceptional marksmen, it was a one shot weapon that filled the cabin with smoke, needed to be reloaded after each shot while in flight. but i'll give it a go.. it's just a squashed Spad7 with some frilly bits and a big gun. lol.. thanks for the encouragement. +Gr.Viper Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 XII might be a nightmare but still.. http://www.internetmodeler.com/2002/june/aviation/SPAD12.htm Scoring 11 kills on this one should be fun... Notice weird control system http://www.storks.cwc.net/guy/s12.html Nose plan http://www.wwi-models.org/Photos/Fre/SPAD12/index.html Quote

kendo353 Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 Impressive list alright ! Did you do all those yourself Ken ? I think you've got just about everything covered .... "standing on the shoulders of giants", catch. started out making spaceships, but found biplanes more enjoyable. the internet is a fantastic research tool for antique plans, photographs, and related info. and i've learnt a huge amount from the models and artwork which have been donated to the public domain by kindhearted artists. on the drawing board :- Deperdussin, Ansaldo SVA5, Macchi M5, Spad XII, Salmson bomber, Austrian floatplanes. if you can think of anything else you'd like to see.... please list it here... cheers... Well I was going to mention the racing Deperdussin. Amazing early aircraft and well ahead of its time. I'm overjoyed at its inclusion. Your one talented guy ..... glad you swapped spaceships for vintage aircraft though lol. Much more interesting .... imo of course. Handley Page bombers .... are they on the drawing board ? Quote
kendo353 Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 Well I was going to mention the racing Deperdussin. Amazing early aircraft and well ahead of its time. I'm doing the taube-like 1911 version.... but you're right, she sure is a beauty... I grabbed some plans last night....looks like she'll be fun to build. nice wings. thanks for the suggestion, catch. Handley Page bombers .... are they on the drawing board ? just an HP400, but it's not skinned yet (same state as the Caprioni). if you know of any earlier variants, could you post a link or picture? cheers.. +kendo353 Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 (clickbigger) You don't see many moustaches of that calibre these days. Bravo, Monsieur Deperdussin. Quote
Gr.Viper Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Are wings animated? Or bend animation is too complicated/not supported? Quote
kendo353 Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Are wings animated? Or bend animation is too complicated/not supported? sure... the game would suck if it didn't have it. most control surfaces are moved by code, but it's not a problem to trigger an animation to play whenever it's needed. catch Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 (clickbigger) You don't see many moustaches of that calibre these days. Bravo, Monsieur Deperdussin. Man that Deperdussin is coming along well Ken. And that moustache LOL ..... yep haven't seen such thick well fertilised foliage since the Aussie cricketers back in the 70's ! Hope you are well and still enthusiastically moving ahead with your grand project. best wishes, catch. Quote
kendo353 Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 Hope you are well and still enthusiastically moving ahead with your grand project. @ Catch... yeah, things are fine here, thanks. still diddling around with lift & drag equations, but progess has been "OK". I try to keep one day a week free for modelling, to offset the brainache. :) @ GR.Viper sorry dude... the Spad XII got bumped down the list, after i discovered this beauty. I want one !! lol.. Quote
