Hello

Trying to learn how to use 3DS Max, I modified a Nanuchka model that I found in the net to make it work with SFP1.

I am having a couple of problems.

1- The muzzle flash is in the tip of the barrel but it is not at the correct angle with the barrel. The flash follows the target but the barrels do not.

I tried TK's suggested Topology. The ship has the Hull as the root, the guntower is linked to the hull and the cannon is linked to the guntower

2- When I use the ini to animate the gunbarrels using the PitchModelNodeName, the gun barrels look to be pitching in the wrong axis. Instead of going up and down they rock sideways.

Any help is appreciated.

BTW, I am getting weird messages when adding a JPG attachment

Thanks for the feedback, yes I have been communicating with Beer. He responded over at SIMHQ.

I did fix the #2 issue. I got the models in the net (free models) and converted them for SFP1 use. I used Beer orientation recommendations, but it seems when I rotated the model, the pivot points did not rotate along. So now it works.

For issue #1, I tried the standard supplied PatrolBoat and it may also have the same problem. I'll try a couple of other ideas and will be sending the files to Beer to look.

I have modified a couple of other small boats to make anti-shipping missions a little more interested. They are the greatest looking models (yet) but they are passable.

I helped Beer get his Pegasus working, I'd be glad to help you as well. Send files if you want and I'll see what I can do to fix it. :)

Thanks for your offer. I'll ship you the files later on.

BTW, I tried different things one of them was to export the Gun Turret from the Pegasus (your fixed version) to a 3DS mesh then import it into the Patrol Boat Max file. Still no luck.

ArmourDave.

Thanks for the offer too and yes please post it.

What I have is that I tried making the Pivot Point for all of the meshes point the same direction as per the Exporter instructions. But no luck.

I am incorrect in this assumption?

Thanks
