Dagger 21 Posted May 21, 2003 what a waste of time and bandwidth. I looked this over and had one of the best laughs I've had in a while.I can only imagine the I.Q. of thos ewho actaully took the time to do a site like this. The only thing I can figure is this is a bunch of people that don't like cluster bombs and don't like the U.S. or our soldiers. But In their defence..it's good for a laugh.
Guest Ranger332 Posted May 21, 2003 Bodycounts are always done as are BDA= BOMB DAMAGE ASSESMENTS the reality is after an ARTY attack or Airstrike somebody had to go in and see how well it worked not a nice sight but nessery. (((and what site are you talking about)))
Dutchy 0 Posted May 21, 2003 Sorry, but I can't open that site. Are they counting bodies that fallen on Iraqi side? How can they know that? Are they there? Greetings Dutchy
Guest Ranger332 Posted May 21, 2003 could be from AAR (after action reports) they are always given after any type of combat action.
+Armourdave 0 Posted May 21, 2003 Did a quick google and found the correct url is: http://www.iraqbodycount.net/ this is a bunch of people that don't like cluster bombs I think you'd be a little bit odd if you "liked cluster bombs". Cluster bombs seem to go against the years or research and billions of dollars spent on developing precision guided munitions. Yep they're effective as hell but the cost to human life may be unacceptable. IMO it's good that people document the deaths on all sides, just as it's vital we document all conflicts and wars. Aslong as they've got their facts and figures right I dont have a problem with this site.
Scout_51 0 Posted May 21, 2003 [Yep they're effective as hell but the cost to human life may be unacceptable. ] depends..thats why they are told park their vehicles walk away?..a cbu is a lot cheaper(I think) than a guided munition...that site says the body count is 4065 at low end,5223 at high end..actually that is a rather amazing LOW count, considering all the weapons that were used...and they saying ity's civilians, are they counting the ones shot by saddams troops as they were retreating?.. Dont quite follow, but using cluster munitions in civilian areas is what I would consider unacceptable. that site says the body count is 4065 at low end,5223 at high end..actually that is a rather amazing LOW count, Agreed. .and they saying ity's civilians, are they counting the ones shot by saddams troops as they were retreating?.. I doubt they are counting those. Cheers :)
Guest Ranger332 Posted May 21, 2003 CBU are effect on soft targets but they are riddled with duds at times
Dagger 21 Posted May 21, 2003 when I saw this site I thought of the Anti-Hunters that come to my area each fall and make wild claims about the number of deer killed illegally or just shot and left. They make all these claims that they posted on the site and yet the US Military, who is actaully there, claims alot less than they do...so I guess I'll go with the military count. As for CBUs..do I like them?,i like anything that saves American lives.do I think they should be used in civilian areas? well look at the facts..the iraqi military dug in and fought from civilian areas..so I guess that makes the point mute..if the enemy is there..we attack. +Armourdave 0 Posted May 21, 2003 well look at the facts..the iraqi military dug in and fought from civilian areas..so I guess that makes the point mute..if the enemy is there..we attack. Thankfully, the RAF pilots during DS2 were told that if they had even a shadow-of-a-doubt as to whether there was or was not civilians in a target area they were absolutely NOT to attack. Cheers.
