PigDriver Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi all, I've just purchased WoE and I was wondering how I install skins/add-on aircraft. I am trying to install the RAAF F-111/F-111 skins package and A-4K skins but I haven't the faintest idea what I am doing. Could someone please give me a "beginner's guide" to adding skins/add-on aircraft. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Quote
Guest Sony Tuckson Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 adding skins is quite easy each skin must have its own folder under the plane main folder newer skin sets are operationnal straight away (those made after SP2 update for SFP1) older sets need to get a textureset.ini file added with some info (look at avbl skins to see how that works, it's quite straightforward) Quote

It sounds like you just have the skins. Anyway, To Install an Addon Aircraft... 1)Unzip or Decompress the Downloaded file. 2)Look inside the new extracted folder and note what folders were created. 3)If the aircraft folder has other Folders like effects or weapons, copy the files inside them to the matching folder in your WOE install folder. For Example, Wings Over Europe/Effects or Wings Over Europe/Objects/Weapons. 4)Copy the Aircrafts folder into your Wings Over Europe/objects/aircraft folder, pilot files go here too. And skins are easy... 1)Unzip or Decompress the Downloaded file. 2)Copy the new Skins folder into that aircrafts Wings Over Europe/Objects/Aircraft/(Plane Name) 3)Run the game a select the new skin from the loadout screen. That should get you started, if i'm wrong about any of this someone please correct me, but thats the way i do it. Quote
+Tailspin Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi PigDriver. Welcome to CombatACE. First things first. Make sure your version is the latest...v08.30.06. You can find the version number in the lower righthand corner of the Mainscreen in the game. If not, install the patch. Next, unless you intend to install the NATO FIGHTERS addons, I highly recommend you download and install the latest Weapons Pack v03JUL06. This will preclude you having to install any weapons separately for the most part. After downloading some of the older planes, there are some things you will have to do to get weapons to show up. See the KNOWLEDGE BASE here in the forums...specifically How To Edit Loadouts For Weapons Packs. While you're there you will see several essential subjects worth reading over. Some of it might not make much sense to you at this stage but it will help later on. Don't know how much computer experience you have but don't be too intimidated. Most of the "fixes" are simple "COPY and PASTE" or text edits of files using Notepad. Enjoy WOE and don't hesitate to ask questions. Quote
