Thanks, it was a good topic. But I still with a doubt: I didn't haven any problem in running WoE after install directx 9, but it didn't work to FE. I think that there is something diferent in FE that not functions under de Vista, dispite the directx 9.

First, go to this link to learn what a CAT extractor is:

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=25845

Then follow the link inside that article to download it.

Then besides using the readme included with the CAT extractor, read this link to learn how to use it:

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...l=CAT+extractor

You have to run it in Windows 98 Compatability Mode to get it to work, check this link for more info:

No problem at all, Bb. You can keep the subject bumped to the top if you like by just posting a "BTT" or something. Someone with more Vista experience will surely come along and help out.

Don't give up yet. I know there are many people who run WOI and First Eagles under Vista and it works for them. Try going through the procedure again, be sure you save the file, and put it in the appropriate folders. The specific terrain folder for the "terrain"_data.ini and Flight folder for the Flightengine.ini.

Well, since I don't have any direct experience with Vista, I would only be "reading" it to you from the instructions already available. First you have to download and install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft on your computer. Then you extract the terrain data.inis and change the appropriate lines regarding the pixel shaders and put those folders in each terrain folder specific to that data.ini, one for Verdun and one for Cambrai. Changing the FlightEngine.ini requires replacing the section from the link with the corresponding section in the .ini. Sorry. :dntknw:
