The_Editor Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 In the default F-8E in WOV there is the following in the Decals.ini: [Decal017] MeshName=fuselage_tail DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=SqName Position=-4.68,-0.15 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.1 DecalMaxLOD=2 Yet in the Decals folder there is SqName090.tga, SqName091.tga etc. Does anybody know how to set the tail decal. I want to change the VF-111 tail from AK to AH to reflect the time spent aboard the Oriskany. Thanks.
+Wrench Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Make a new AH decal, and put it in the skin folder??? Simplest and easiest way! Game always looks in the folders first, before pulling from the objects cat. Wrench kevin stein
The_Editor Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) Thanks. I'll try that. It seems I made a mistake with the decal. SqName is the squadron, i.e VF-111. I cant seem to find the other decal, it doesn't seem to be named in the ini file. I shall investigate more. Thanks again. Edited January 14, 2008 by The_Editor
The_Editor Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 Aha! I have found it. AK was set in the alpha channel in F8TailL136.tga and F8TailR136.tga. I only have to change it to AH.
+Wrench Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Fastest, most efficent way: 1) Make new AH decal (you can even call it "AH" -- you don't need to use the stock names) 2) Place said decal in skin folder (don't even need the /d sub-folder) 3) Change said skin's decal ini to point to new decal 4) Fly as to the 'set in the alpha' ... think of the Alpha channel as a 'hold out matte', it allows the RGB channels' data (image, lettering, etc) to show through. So, actually, the 'image' is set in all 4 channels. Wrench kevin stein
The_Editor Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 (edited) I edited the alpha channel(changed the K into a H) and here is the result, it turned out ok or should that be oh: F-8 Crusader of Lt Commander Dick Schaffert VF-111 USS Oriskany 1967. Edited January 15, 2008 by The_Editor
