I was just messing around in a mission and realized the the gunfire effect (Muzzle flash and smoke) is not there for the A-10 anymore.

 

I'm playing merged WOV/WOE. I have the weapons pack, weather mod, and comm mod installed. I have some add on aircraft installed as well as the Isreal DES terrain. However, when I installed all these, I was careful that I didn't add anything change any of the weapons or effects that could be associated with the A-10.

 

Does anyone know what could have happened, or more importantly how to fix it?

I think there is a mod for the effects in the OBJECT MODS <--YEP ITS A LINK!

Thanks. All the other 30mm guns use an effect called 30mmFireEffect. The GAU8 called out GAU8FireEffect. So I just ended up changing the effect for the GAU8 to the 30mmFireEffect. Looks about right.

 

Although, I still have no idea why the effect dissapeared all of a sudden... ?

Maybe one of the resident experts can help me out with this next part...

 

I used the .cat extractor to look for for the original Gau8FireEffect, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I couldn't find any effects for that matter, other than what's already there in the effects folder. In addition, the 30mmFireEffect that I'm referencing now isn't in the effects folder either, but it still works.

So I guess my question is where does the game get effects from if they aren't in the effects folder?

 

If I knew this, I could do a fresh install of WOE and hunt down the Gau8 effect, and hopefully figure out where it went and get it back.
