feldwebel Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I was just wondering if I land, my wingmen will do the same? I know there is a return to base command, but must you use it? Will they not land if you don't tell them RTB? Also, do enemy aircraft take off and/or scramble? Do they complete missions and then land at their base? Or are they just predestined to fly around always? Quote
Guest Bounder Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 oddly enough it depends on the AC,some you do have to tell. Other will stay up till they go bingo and beyond then crash while circling you. Quote

When you fly back to base your wingmen will tell the tower they are "inbound for landing" and get in the pattern for landing with all the other jets in the pattern. The enemy planes all do the same - ive never seen any just fly around in a circle Quote
feldwebel Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 Yes, this is meant for this forum. What I was asking is that if enemy planes land and take off? I haven't yet seen this? Also, when you go to land, do your wingmen do the same without you telling them to return to base? Or do you have to tell them to land? If you don't tell them to land, will they just fly around forever? Quote

No in a campaign they will follow you back to base if they are in one piece - in the formation you have specified - and then automatically call the tower without you doing anything. If they get damaged on missions they will go to the designated alternate airfield if they can by themselves. Ive never seen a plane just fly around forever - there will be loads of planes up during a campaign - all with specified missions - all have to take off and land though. Enemy jets work like the allied jets - they Taxi to the runway then take off - I havnt seen this happen much because I tend not to hang around too much in their airspace. You can sometimes see them using 6 if you are close to the base lined up or waiting to take off. They wont take off if the runway is bombed Quote

Ok well they do crash sometimes if you use x64 acceleration and they are too low ive found. I have never had my element just fly around in a circle in years of playing it - so not sure whats wrong with your install - but then again I usually just land first - taxi and press Esc + E it takes over an hour for one mission - so I try to get backand land ASAP If you issue weapons free they sometimes fly off after everything - then you need to issue rejoin or weapons hold Quote
