Super Tucano For USAF?

Recommended Posts

The USAF can use in surveillance missions in Iraq the

light attack aircraft of Super Tucano. According

revealed yesterday the vice president of the company to Defense market

, Luis Carlos Aguiar, the company participates in

an offer for direct delivery of eight aircraft that

would be employed in tasks of monitoring.

The Pentagon wants to increase the control over the borders

with Iran and Syria, through which passes much of the

supplies and weapons sent by Islamic groups

radicals who support the insurgents.

The Super Tucano place the work of the observation

cost less than the present. Today, the monitoring is done by

helicopters - vulnerable to anti-arms - or fighters

F-16 and F-18, whose cost of hours of flight is estimated between

$ 5 thousand and 7 thousand, Agains $ 950 from aircraft of Embraer.

Most of the old stuff was destroyed between 1991 and 2003 I think.

I heard that the Iraqi Air Force is inquiring into buying light strike aircraft of the turboprop kind for COIN roles. I think the main competitors are the AT-6B/C and the EMB-314 Super Tucano, as well as a few others.
