ok so i went from an old ati 9800 pro 128mb card, to a new saphire x1650pro 512mb card, and it runs the game amazingly. havent had any problems yet with the so called shadow bugs... but there is one thing that keeps happening, in WOE, WOV and WOI. i keep getting a CTD error saying something about the groundobject.dll file.

now i installed a fresh copy of both WOE and WOV on a seperate drive, and patched them, and thats it, and ran those games, and i still get the same error. is there something wrong with the game not liking this video card? the only other thing that ive installed recently was another gig of ram wtih a heatsink because 1 gig was getting slow when i run my photoshop and after effects programs.

anyone have any ideas?

basic system specs:

Intel Celeron 2.93ghz

2 gig Ram

ATI Sahire X1650pro 512mb video card

onboard sound

running windows xp sp2

ever since the upgrade, every time i play it happens. it can take as quick as a few seconds while sitting on the runway, or sometimes i can almost finish a mission and then it will hit.

would it be something in the bunyaps weapons pack or maybe the widesky mod? if it is ive never had a problem with them before when i was running less ram and a worse video card.

here is the error i get when the CTD hits

yeah ive tried that ctd fix, didnt seem to do anything. ive got three installs of WoE, one plain stock, not even patched, one moded with the weapons and widesky, and my main install that is modded to no end....

all three do the CTD. i did three installs to see if i could narrow down what the cause might be, and so far nothing.

according to the Directx tools, im running 9.0C (4.09.0000.0904)

v04.23.06 for the unpatched unmodded version

i just ditched the omega drivers for the video card, and am going to try the catalyst drivers to see if it makes a difference

i think i figured out what was causing the error, tho i dont know why. i had recently bought another gig of ram, and after browsing the Thirdwire forums, someone else had a similar problem after upgrading ram. so i pulled the stick and swapped its spot with the original stick. gave them the good ol' chinese firedrill, and ever since then, i havent had any ctd issues.
