+Bongodriver Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Well as the title says, I have just one day left and my 'tour of duty' with Her Majesty's coastguard is finished, will be sad I have to admit, that I won't fly the Islander again (until I get my model finished). But anyway, come October I will be in Dallas Fort Worth, doing my learjet course and hopefully sampling many fine beers, steaks and........well ...I have a gut feeling I'm going to enjoy it. Quote
MAKO69 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Dont say Fine Beer when refering to American beer unless its a micro brew or from europe. Quote

FastCargo Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 There is great American beer! Just not Budweiser or Miller... Sam Adams baby! Bongodriver...why ya quittin the CG? Can't fly the Bongo as a reservist? FastCargo Quote
+Bongodriver Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 Bongodriver...why ya quittin the CG? Can't fly the Bongo as a reservist? CG in the UK is a little different than the US, it is a civil service more like the police (soon to be intergrated into our new border force) and CG/civil service aviation is all done by specialised civil operators, so I am just a civvie with a uniform, but I have to say the boys and girls of the CG proper have taken us in as their own. So as a civvie I'm just moving on to further my aviation career (never really fancied airlines- bit like bus driving, so corporate or cargo is where I wanted to go) Sam Adams is the recommended beer then, surprised Bud is held in such low regard, the Bud sold over here seems ok to me. +Bongodriver Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 How depressing, my final flight today involved overseeing the recovery of the body of a young woman who committed suicide, early twenties-what would make a person throw themselves from a cliff like that, I've seen a few over the years but the sight of this body is going to stay with me for a while. Guest 531_Ghost Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Congratulations Bongodriver! Sorry it had to end that way though. If you are going for a "big" brewery, go Sam Adams. If you can find a BevMo, you'll find a few European beers. My favorite: Yummy! Quote
Jug Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) I too recommend Sam Adams! To make the cast complete, 'Sam Adams' for me I cry to the beer wench of the house (always spurs her to do great things for her Lord and Master). Highly recommend Brama (Brazil) as well. Goes great with seafood. Edited September 23, 2008 by Jug Quote
