Q For Mrmudd (or Any Beta Testers)

Recommended Posts

I noticed when playing the demo, attacking ground targets is somewhat difficult.

You have to get real close for some targets to show up. (especially around the

airfields) That makes it difficult to make flight path corrections. Is the most recent

beta better in that respect?

I am not a beta tester for Lomac. And those that are under an NDA such as the Beta Testers are under a no public communication gag order.

I have sampled a couple beta builds and i can tell you the frame rates and objects do increase as it gets debugged and optimised.

But dont let this fool you. Lomac is cutting edge for a flight sim in the virtual world it creates. haveing the best equipment produces the best results.

There are 2 key factors PC computing power, and the options setup.

Inthe option setup their are several fields to activate, moderate, deactivate.

For example "Object Detail" would vary a stone building to high fidelity with bricks, clothesline, and the old lady looken out the window you just busted mach 1 by. ( Just kidding) B)

Then there is "Displayed Objects" this is where your distance viewed comes in place. IE low display would require say 1/4 mile view distance, and full displayed objects would give you the 20 Mile distance.

Now you add in your shadows, lighting, atmospheric detail.

If your computer can handle the max settings, Obviously you will have a better and more immersive Game-player experiance.

If you have the lowest spec pc. Well, you have to make do with what you got.

technology and entertainment for flight sims is not for the Weak Budget.

It sux i know. But if you want to have the best opportunies you needthe best hardware to support it to be succesful.

the sim is comeing along nicely. I think you would be impressed with what it can do. But the better Hardware, means it will be that much better ;)

Thanks MrMudd - as usual, your response is very informative.

Well, I should`ve experimented more with the demo settings before resorting

to "ask MrMudd for all the answers" option.

I thought that the Visibility Range setting refers to atmospheric visibility only.

Apparently it also defines the distance at which some objects are painted.

When I set it to high, it looked like a different world out there! With everything else

maxed out (except the mirrors) and res. 1600x1200x32 the frame rate dropped

to below 20 (flying around the cities)

Obviously the demo is not optimized the way full version will be (hopefully)

and with a lot more setting options.

BTW, I`m using 3.2G P4 on a Abit IC7-G, Radeon9700Pro and SATA drives.

I have no problem answering questions and helping you guys out as much as i have time to do so.

Your system is much faster than my Xp2400 2GHz machine with a SATA 80 Gig Drive and the 9800 Radeon Pro 128.

Their is no doubt about it, having the best gameing rig is going to give you outstanding results with LOMAC.

I am looking to Upgrade my Processor right now for my ABIT NF7-S. The 2 ghz chip i have runs at 133MHZ and is my main bottle neck. My board can handle the newer 400MHZ chipsets or i may look into a new motherboard and chipset option.

I'm hopeing a vendor or manufacturer can help me out on this. The website provides no income for me and their is no way possible i can go out and buy the best gear out their for my Flight Sim Editor efforts.....
