Serious Question For Those In The Know.

My question deals with the depth of Strike Fighters, specifically what can and cannot be done with strike fighters.

How far or how many realistic functions can be added to SF? take the aircraft engines for example, can engine startup and shutdown be added? Can engines be reworked so that engine fires can be extinguished?

 

Beer is working on a carrier addon, can that carrier have taxing aircraft being cycled from the wires to the cats? can aircraft taxi themselves to the cats and hooked up for a launch?

 

Can a ejection sequence be created? (not an important feature, but is it possible)

 

These are only a few examples of questions, but how far/how much can SF be reworked before it hits a wall and a new code or sim must be drawn up?

The addon for FS2004, (Flight Deck 3) does add some of the features you mentioned, Seawolf.

 

I know absolutely nothing about programming, but it would surely be interesting if the features you mentioned could be incorporated into SFP1.

 

If it can be done for FS2004, why couldn't it be done with SFP1?

No the carrier will not be functional, TK has replied that it requires coding that is not currently in SFP-1. He is of course working on the Patch (enough people have verified this, please do not turn the thread into a where's the patch thread), it seems to be slow going so I would not count on landable carriers with SFP-1 :(

 

Maybe one day SFP-2 will be in work under a new Publisher :unsure: and feature Naval Aviation :D

 

With the A-7 out I hope to tweak the Forrestal a bit, and get the FFG-7 done with Capun. The closest I think I can come is a PHM, a FFG and the Forrestal formation steaming and practicing visual approaches.

 

My Naval Aviation Fixes for just flying around will be Chiefs recommendation of Flight Deck 3 (its on the way). When I wanna blow things up I will use the A-7, F-4 and A-4 from AD/column5 and the stock SFP-1 planes.

Here's one link you can try getting info. While Googling around I run into this website. The specific link was for my search, but you can do searches to find out more info. It looks like some kind of instructional site for maintenance people and it has good data. There was some data on the FFG Perry's too.

I have the launcher left to complete. I am toying with the idea to leave it like it is so we don't bloat the poly count. I'll be designing the Mk 13 Launcher with some of this data to see what poly count I come up with.

I found a top and profile view for the FFG, they are not that good but they are usable...also have all kinds of picture of the Phalanax if your gonna model one of those :).

I think I have the OTO Melara and the Phalanx done. I don't want to go overboard with the poly count.

The Front Launcher is the one that can use more work so that is the one I am trying to finish
