Help with static aircarft

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone could answer this, i have installed the static aircraft by comrpnt pack which contains a lightning, hercules, SH3, and a F4-J and was wondering, do these aircraft only show up on a certain terrain in a mission, or do they show up on any terrain and act as the scenery?

It's been a while since I looked at that pack but I am pretty sure it is like the others... meaning you will have to build missions and place the aircraft on the maps with a mission editor.

Also, with the Oct08 patches, dedicated static aircraft have almost (note I say almost) become unnecessary, as the game engine will populate ramps with aircraft that are in your aircraft folder and representative of the time period (and in campaigns, the aircraft that are assigned to that airfield). The hardest part is working out where to park them if the airfield is a non-standard layout (Gepards nice custom airfields as an example).

Hi folks, with my statics you will have to place them by hand in single missions at the airfields of your choice - have a look at the VMFA-531 Single Missions packs in the downloads section here at CA for examples of missions that include definitions on how to do this - especially for Da Nang and Phu Cat.

With the new Oct 08 patch you can always edit the airfield _AIRBASE.INI files and modify the Parking[nn] entries to suit your needs. Of course you'll have to rely on the game engine to populate these randomly with suitable available aircraft but it may save you plenty of work.

Also of course you could alter these entries so as not to obscure the manual statics that you want to put in future missions, such as aircraft on the line etc.

Regards, comrpnt.
