Jeremiah Weed Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) What was ARN-101? I searched for it on Wiki but didn't get any hits There is more to the internet besides wikipedia http://www.google.com/search?client=firefo...G=Google+Search oh and by thee way ARN-101 Computer The ARN-101 is a navigation, weapon delivery and sensor management system that provides all-weather navigation and stores delivery capabilities to fighter aircraft. In the navigation mode, the ARN-101 provides precision navigation to and from destinations and targets. In weapon delivery mode, navigation functions are provided by the ARN-101 to allow accurate weapon deliveries, including ballistic calculations. Edited January 27, 2009 by Jeremiah Weed Quote
+Crusader Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 digital attack/bombing and navigation system attack system had issues on the real thing, due to some error in the measurement system which freeked up CCIP accuracy big time. it was never fixed for some reasons so they wired the jets for the huge pave tack pod and used LGBs.. probably to counteract the faulty CCIP hehe... Arnie jets could not use the pave spike pod, its a analog system and not compatible with the digital Arnie but our version of Arnie has no trouble with the CCIP ;) Quote
GwynO Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The problem with the ARN 101 accuracy was that it computed the ccip in statute miles when the data being fed to it from the aircraft was in nautical miles. Why wasn't it ever fixed though is another question. This is a good link for info from an ex wcs group on what the Vietnam era Phantoms had to help get dumb bombs on target. http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/3227/jargon.htm and http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/3227/index.html Quote
