Pilot rating

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on what the pilot rating is in the profile screen. Mine is currently at 70%. Im assuming the higher the rating the better pilot you are, but what factors contribute to this? Would a pilot that for example has all settings on easy have a better rating than a pilot that has everything on hard. Also does starting at the homebase and taking off, flying the entire route and landing make a difference?
