Shot down two Fe2 (mission review confirmed it) but got no claim form. When the form didn't come up I assumed they'd both made it away (first was gliding down, smoking, and I'd heard one of the crew scream, the second was lightly smoking when I'd run out of ammo). So it was down to no witnesses. Those chaps are forever lagging way behind me, I usually have to turn back to pick them up. I'd give them a proper bollocking, but as I'm a lowly flieger I think that might get me into trouble.

The flip side is that if I'd waited for them to catch up (five of them) they'd have probably poached all the glory. What's one to do.

Hi, Siggi

At start, you could fly with 75% throttle, until they are with you.

(When I warp, they are always all there right with me after that - but wait with warp, 'till the last one is airborne).

I confess, that I kept the blue text on, that tells me, when I downed a plane. Takes some off the immersion, perhaps,

but I KNOW I killed one - and then I can look up the time and position, for the claim report.

I had it once or twice, that I didn't get a claim report, although I definitely shot a plane down.

Don't know, why - s**t happens. Sometimes.

I would have been a bit between a rock and a hard place with this one. I needed full throttle to climb and catch the Fees anyway, so even if I'd thought to remember the need for witnesses...just assumed my chaps would be able to see what happened, it was a beautiful clear summer's day.

I'm just glad to be still alive, I seem to be having much better luck with my first German pilot than with the last few RFC chaps. Alfred Williams was a high-point so far, probably due to flying pre-1.26 patch or something. It's a lot more dangerous up there these days.

You can say that!

To the claim problem: I noticed, that the wingies don't follow too well, whe I climb steeper than 10 on the instrument.

But you can mark one Fee as target first, and order attack. Then they'll do their climbs.

As soon as you're up there with them, you order "R" return, so they don't spoil your day.

I don't do all that target-marking malarkey (don't even know how it works), the best they get is me hitting the "A" key a few times.

It's no big thing. In "controls", look for "next target" and put that command on a button

or key you want it. I did that with all the wingmen commands, cause sometimes I need

some "help", or want them to "return". Works quite well - it's just one set up, and offers

you much better fighting chances. So, I have the "help" call on a button, I can reach with

my pointing (?) finger. Helped me a lot in a furball with numerous SPADs.

My wingman 1 came straight for helping me out - it almost made my eyes wet.

PS: targets marked, can be switched to by "F4" (you see the enemy plane then).

When you're in that view, and press "next target" again, you can switch through them all

and see, what they are. It's a cheat, okay, but good for learning.

I already have A, R and H mapped (attack, return and help). All realistic if one assumes the use of gestures (close range) and flares (long range). I don't want to be using anything that puts me outside the cockpit etc.

Fair enough, and the honest way. I'll do so too, when I've come to grips with this all.

Right now, I find it very hard to survive even three flights in a "hot" area" - so I'm still learning.

Turns out I fly much the same way as you Siggi. Trackir is sure going to be huge improvement for my situational awareness. I only wish trackir could help with that dang ack ack that seems to find my crate so often.

It WILL help a lot, for your situational awareness, RICKITYCRATE!

First, you may get dizzy from the wide view angles you cover now.

But then, you can check much better and quicker, who is were.
