Luiz Carlos 0 Posted April 20, 2009 is there a fix for the constant locking/freezing suffered in game? I have a good system Intel core duo E 8400 with Ge Force GTX 260 and 4 GB RAM, and I am able to reach 18-72 fps (18 over airfield) I have no graphics problem with settings 5-5-3-3-5-2 , with the exceptio of the occasional freezing in the image. The interesting is that the game continues to doing his calculations, because when the image unlocks, the plane "jumps" to another location and I learn to manage the stick trying to guess a way of not "jump" to a nose down position( died one time because this) I read something about a "Frame Cap" that could solve this. Do you have experienced this and knows a solve? Thanks in advance.
Wels 2 Posted April 20, 2009 Hello Luiz, if you mean this short stopping, and then jumping on instead of the smooth gameplay this is probably due to your graphic card being much faster than the rest - however i wonder where there would be the bottleneck with your machine lol. You can edit the CFS3.XML (in the OFF default folder), there is an entry which should be changed from "0" to e.g. "30". See here: "Kill stutter by setting max fps" http://www.com-central.net/index.php?name=...topic&t=118 Maybe your problem is related to this (?) Good luck, Catfish

Waldemar Kurtz 1 Posted April 20, 2009 nearly every single time I've EVER had a problem with OFF it's usually because of a background program "checking for updates". it's usually right in the middle of a great shooting opportunity too. usually it's Windows looking for an update or the anti-virus program. OFF uses up a pretty good chunk of memory on my computer--and since I don't have this particular computer accessing the internet--it usually crunches things up quite badly. if you know you're safe from virus attacks--you could consider turning off updates and internet access for any program updates you might have. Luiz Carlos 0 Posted April 20, 2009 Also sounds like you might have a background program causing the stuttering. I use to kill everything , including the anti-virus before to start the game.I think the Frame Cap might work.I´ll do a try when I leave the office today. Unless you are playing OFF online, why the need to be online whilst playing OFF in Single play? And if you are not online ( I pull the plug on my cable connection), then turn off the AV program and firewall temporarily, and shut down a load of other processes too - see the guide re Alacrity PC. When I played OFF on my internet PC, after i finished playing the sim, I would re boot and all the AV and firewall stuff would go back on, ready to go on the Net. tttiger 0 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) Luiz: Setting the frame cap really cleared up the stuttering problem I had. To see how to do it, take a look here (I think it's the fourth item down): http://www.com-central.net/index.php?name=...topic&t=118 I set mine to 30 as recommended and haven't had a stutter since. Lots of other great tips in there as well. Just a suggestion: Try only one tweak at a time. If you do several and your FPS improves, you won't know which tweak helped. Patience is a virtue in tweaking. I hope this solves it for you! I know you message was to Pol and I'm certainly not Pol (you can tell us apart: He's the genius; everything I know about computers is "monkey-see-monkey-do") . sitting_duck 3 Posted April 20, 2009 Highly recommend you look at this thread http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=40014 Admittedly, there is a bit of learning to do here, and you HAVE to read everything thru just to make sure you understand what is being presented, and why you are doing what you are doing, but homeboy has done a terrific job of laying out the process for AlacrityPc, and the blackviper site is pretty much straight forward, as long as you take the time to read it. Its basically 2 steps, stop all the process you dont need for normal operation that are always running, and the second step shuts down the processes that you dont need for the game, which are then restarted when you stop your game. and as always, should you have any questions about it,,,im sure someone in the forum will help you out. When I played OFF on my internet PC, after i finished playing the sim, I would re boot and all the AV and firewall stuff would go back on, ready to go on the Net. it's not really about the internet connection, it's about Windows SCHEDULING update checks and THEN not finding anything. I'm never online when I play OFF--but that didn't stop Windows or Norton Anti-virus from performing their scheduled check-ups! solution-- I just got rid of all of those scheduled check-ups and updates. I just wasn't very clear in my first post, I guess-- I whole-heartedly agree with the advice you've posted here. that was the ONLY time I ever had problems with OFF (Phase I and II) even though my computer is actually pretty old.
