Drinks in the mess on me, Gentlemen!

Recommended Posts

After an annoying sortie that found me on the wrong side of a disagreement with a DFW, my latest pilot had to break off his sortie and limp back to the airfield empty handed… where he got word that 13 of his 16 claims had been confirmed all at once. And two shiny new DFCs had arrived to go with them!

At 8 hours flying time, I wondered if he’d ever live long enough see a single kill confirmed. I’ll have to advance the time for a day to account for the hangover.

At nearly 9 hours logged, he’s my most successful pilot since I got the game 6 weeks ago or so. Trouble is, now I’m afraid to send him back up. War is hell.

Boys at HQ work in very mysterious ways. No doubt someone had yours in a pile in the "To Do" tray then got sent home on leave. Congrats on the kills.

Congrats, Canvas - that makes me hope! I have 34 claims, but only 8 confirmed yet.

Perhaps they all come in the day I die?

Yes, one get's more careful then.

I created two more pilots. When I'm stressed, tired or elsehow distracted, I never fly my

best pilot, but one of the other two. My best campaign, I only fly 100 % there.

Perhaps an idea for you too?

Ya, good idea, Olham. I tend to fly in the wee hours of the morning because work keeps interferring with my game.

It's more nerves in this case. I'm so worried about losing this guy before me makes the almost mythical 17 hour mark, that I'm afraid he (I) might panic and do something stupid in his next dogfight-and get killed as a result. Combat nerves- how's that for realism? LOVE this sim!

Where and what craft is he flying? On Allied side, he must go over the lines again.

But you could retire him any time (not sure, how that works without loosing the log, though).

And the combat nerves: after some flights, I have to wipe my hands dry on my jeans; and

after a tight turn fight in an Albatros DIII (all alone) against 4 S.E.5a, they even slightly trembled.

(But not enough - all 4 S.E.5a bite the dust; or better: the mud. The horror: they had killed all my

wingmen - so I got no claims form! That's life. Or better: that's war! It can be hell, can't it? Lol!).

Only 1 day? Geez, that sort of coup should net you a 96-hour pass in Paris, PLUS the hangover :good:

He's a split-arse Camel jockey with 4-RNAs out of Frontier field in Flanders mid-June '17.

.... you suckered the SEs into a turning fight? Serves them right! Too bad about the wingmen/claims tho'

Well, the claims were backed up over 8 hours of sorties... they just were all confirmed on the one day. Hell of a party tho'. And it's great to be top gun in the squadron for once. Five confimred is my nearest rival. Gonna put the gongs on and try chatting up Yvette at the local pub...
