Recommended Posts

Couldn't find a WWII forum to post this, so I'll do it here:

The sweet song of Merlin & Vera Lynn...

Cheers,

No problem shredward. Thank you. I think all of us here love airplanes of all sorts. Beautiful song, beautiful airplane. I’m sure you remember there was a thread taking a poll as to our favorite 3 airplanes. The Spitfire by far was the most popular. I put down the three planes I worked on in the USAF, but the first plane that popped into my head was the Spitfire. I bought an addon for FS9 called “Wings of Power II WWII Fighters”. My favorite plane to fly was the Spitfire.

Well, if Oleg will EVER release his Battle of Britain sim (now announced for 1. June), you can fly the Spit.

The looks and the cockpit interiour are incredible. And yes - THE fighter that comes to my mind, when I

think about the beauty of WW2 fighter craft.

Once, back in 1986, an English friend and I stood on some chalk hills near London, when we heard this

distinctive, impressive sound. We scanned the sky, and there it was - a Spitfire approaching at very low

altitude! The pilot saw us wave and waved back - he must have felt very happy in that craft!

Later we realised, there had been an air show near - you lucky Englander have those a lot, it seems.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?

Remember how she said that we would meet again, some sunny day.

Vera,,,,,,,Vera, what has become of you?

Does anybody here feel the way I do?

Pink Floyd.
