Hi community,

after a highly successful reinstall of WoV, I have decided today to do a reinstall of WoE, and all it's updates and add ons. The only thing that has me concerned is some of the default aircraft. When I think 'Cold War', I think of that period when I was living in the UK and on alert, usually around the 1981 mark. As a result, I feel that some of the default aircraft are a little 'defunct', such as the B-57, Hunter etc. I want to make this as accurate as I can, what does the community think?

I cannot see Hunters flying along with F-15's et al.

I would like to make this as accurate as possible. What does the community think?

Thanks

AJ.

Well, many countries kept their Hawker Hunters well into the eighies. There are still Air Forces that uses it as its main Aircraft - same with the MiG-21 and other such Aircraft. As thus, the time usually shows when the last Air Force stopped using the plane in question.

Very True,

However, I would like to keep the 'Cold War' pretty much confined to the US, UK, a few other NATO nations, and the WARPAC states. I'm not sure, but I doubt if the RAF would have been using Hunters at this time. Because of the map sizes in the sim as well, this is why I will be leaving out some NATO nations such as Spain.

Thanks

You mentioned the B-57. By 1969, the B-model was undergoing modification to the B-57G "Tropic Moon III" config. The model found in USAFE was the RB-57 and later, the EB-57. The EBs were converted B-57C trainers.

So, you could replace the B-57B with one of the excellent 3rd Party Canberras for accuracy.

Didnt the Danish use hunters for a long time, and had them modified to use sidewinders?

The Dutch airforce did, although Hunters were replaced Starfighters by 1968.

I know the Danish used them into the 70's so i thought they had modified them for winders too?

Could be, I'm not sure. The RNlAF fitted the rails to the outboard pylons of the Hunter F4/F6, I don't know if and were the Danish fitted their Sidewinders.

Rails not loaded here:

The Danish Hunters were guns only. Used from 1956-1974 as pure dayfighters with low altitude Air defence as their mission
