Growler67 Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 (edited) I was just wondering if they are considering Weapon add-ons. In particular, for instance, "Snakeyes". Having 'High Drag' munitions are advantageous when down low to avoid fragging ones self. Perhaps if someone over at ED could consider this in a patch format. Possibly rolled up in a purchasable Aircraft add-on, or whatever. I would like to think that I am not the only one playing this game that would like a little more variety in munition choices...........anyone? Beuller? BTW, this is reference to my flying the A-10, although it could apply to any airframe. Edited January 10, 2004 by Growler67 Quote
AirBiskit Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Oh, I'm all for this. Especially TALDs (ie: jf18) and some GPS munitions. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Snake eyes and their newer BSU variants have been discussed in the beta forums. They probably won't be persued for the A-10, as retarded bombs are usually loaded on fast movers, as opposed to the loiter capable A-10. When I was loading weapons on USAF jets, I did plently of snakes and BSU-49's and 50's on the F-111, but never on the A-10. TER's with Mk. 82 slicks aplenty, but not ret's. If the hornet or similar fast mover is added, I would imagine this munition type will also be added to it's inventory... Quote
GhostDog Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 I think that for many of us that its not just a question of wether the munitions currently available can do the job or not. Its a question (IMHO) of the feeling of freedom of choice. It is in this area that Lomac allready stands out by having so many flyables and a large terrain. Adding more munitions would add to that and increase the feeling of variation. It might be a kind of placebo effect but i'm sure that i would love it anyway. As long as the munitions added are true to the RL planes and timeframe Quote
Growler67 Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 Spectre, I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm an Air Traffic Controller not a Payload Specialist. However, Dice replied on an 'A-10 Wish' thread over at frugals: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=57116 It's about half way down. Basically he said that someone was looking into the chute retarded bombs and they were used on A-10's. Just a little more variety in munitions is the small quest I am on. AirBiskit, I'll have to look, but I don't think GPS munitions were in wide use in the games time frame. Yeah, they would offer more flexibility in ones mission planning, however I don't think that they would fit in. I am not an authority it is just an opinion. Now if an add-on product (for arguements sake) was produced: Bering Strait terrain pack, F-18, new munitions available (including retards). It could all be one package and more of us would be happier than we are now. Next Xmas, PLEASE!!! Quote
Growler67 Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 Spectre, just re-read my above post. Didn't come out the way I intended. Perhaps when you were involved retards weren't in wide use with the A-10. I appears that current tactics may be different than what they used to be. Didn't mean to come off sounding like a tool.
