+Fates Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Has anyone played the demo? Doesn't look like a bad Naval Sim at all...What you think? http://www.naval-combat.com/ <C> Fates Quote
AK_STICK Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I own it, its GREAT, if subs or ships is your kinda sim, its a good one Quote
JayJay Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I've tested. It's pretty cool, quite simple with controls but a bit hard to fight. Try hitting someone with torpedoes. I wrote a review back in June and I know that a massive multiplayer patch was in the works. Any info on that? Quote
Beer Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 Did not see a POC for their site, I will pick this one at my expense and go for a spin, as for torpedoes it would be interesting to see if a manuveuring board solution works or not, if the targets maintain course and speed, the shot should be easy if the solution is manually plotted; just need to know the running speed of the torp, the course and speed of the target, and of course your course and speed (0 makes it easy). Cheers Beer Quote
+pcpilot Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 A nuke ASROC and you wouldnt have to worry about all that plotting. There's a BIG margin for error built in there ya know... :D Actually, this game looks pretty good, though I get the impression its more of a naval BF1942 and not really a sim. Am I wrong here? Quote
+Fates Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 Well PC, You can always get the DEMO ...they do have one. Check it out DEMO 115MB Quote
AK_STICK Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 let me just say, this game may be the naval version of LOMAC, its not buggy, but there are alot of things left out, there is no mp yet, and the torps are not guided, and you have no gyro control, but for me, I love it, ship to ship torpedo combat is a close in ugly game, as the destroyers can realy pound the hell out of you with 5-6 5in guns firing point blank and anywhere from 3-8 torpedo tubes launching fish point blank, but you do get to run a big set of boats, 2 torpedo launches, 3 corvetts, 3 destroyer escorts and 3 destroyers (battle ships to come with the patch) and 4 different subs, all with different ammounts of armor, different weapons and layouts and handling styles. +pcpilot Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Fates, Im on 56K so I havent tried the demo, thats a big file. Thanks for the link though, I added it to my favorites. But that's why I was asking opinions. I did hear somewhere in a review in the past, that the reviewer thought the game wasnt really a sim. However, to hear AK's response, it might be afterall. Even if it is arcadish, it still might be fun. Anything Naval I like and am interested in. I would love to try the demo, I suppose I could just leave it on all night. I wonder how long it would take?
